Cheating is anything against the rules that gives you an unfair advantage. Hacking is a form of cheating. Using a ringer is a form of cheating.

I don't like nugz but you're the same putz that cried about having to play in invite. I wouldn't be insulting anyone about anything who is trying to at least pretend there are a few rules left to the league.
We lost every match in Invite, and we'd gladly play in Invite with a team that actually deserved to be there. I was told we were being kept in Invite because no one wanted to move teams around. Regardless of whether you think we should have been in Invite or not, we made moves to actually be able to play out the season, and they failed, so it's hardly the same as someone rage-quitting the league. It's a completely different story if what nugz said was true about them having activity problems, but I still don't think it's really a fair comparison to the problems Squares had.

Also, in the case of using a ringer being a form of cheating, nugz already said he had no problem with the ringer they used in week 8. I don't see that as being the operative issue here, and even if it was, some rules just carry more weight than others. There isn't a specific TPG clause that spells it all out, but honestly, using 3rd party programs is a whole other ballgame from using a ringer. Both should be and, to my knowledge, usually are punished (in the event that the other team isn't aware of the ringer).

The issue here is the TPG admins deciding to allow hXc to play out the season if he wishes. I'm not going to say whether it was a good call or not, I just think it was a harmless one, and I was sad to see a solid team backing out of playoff contention because of it.

It wasn't like the site got hacked that was out of his control. It was a very deliberate action.

If you want to play with ringers, then so be it. I'm just stating the obvious, like last season when someone got butthurt when they couldn't use a superior ringer to their normal roster person to have 6. It cuts both ways, and finding 6 people to play 40 minutes once a week isn't that hard of an issue. If you can't, then I suggest you broaden your horizons a little in roster depth.
I'm not arguing with any of this; it's all 100% true. I'm not backing drugs by saying it was band-aid's fault hxc left (or anybody else, for that matter). He chose to leave for reasons I don't know nor care to find out, really. But using him in the match wasn't equivalent to getting a superior ringer. It was getting somebody on their team - even though he left and was placed back on the roster by an admin before the match. I think it was just that, at this point in the season, it would be a little difficult to get backups for the team. Even if rosters were unlocked, having roster issues occur during week 8 isn't going to end well.

At this point in the game, using a ringers seems to be expected.

And just for the record, it was more that our team didn't belong in invite and I was simply informing the admins as they could obviously not see it. If you want crying about being in invite, I'd send you to a noluck thread.

Roster locks should be the rule, but the exceptions should be unlimited at admin's discretion. This is why you have admins, to make these decisions. It's ok to disagree with that decision, but if your reason for disagreeing is "waahhh that's against the rules!", that's really stupid.

Re: playoff maps

by Miller` » Thu Oct 20, 2011 2:53 pm

I have no problem with narc's decision. While you may be stating a rule, you are missing the obvious:

§8 Disclaimer
TPG admins reserve the right to make independent judgement calls for any rule as necessary. These judgement calls, if made, will supersede any current rules listed above.

and

§8.2 Rule Changes
TPG reserves the right to modify and apply any rules as needed at any time, even retroactively. This includes changes due to software updates or releases and all other changes deemed necessary to the league. Major changes to the rules will be posted on our website and forums as needed. Teams should check the rules on a regular basis and prior to every match to ensure they are in complete compliance. The

TPG Administrators decisions are final.

I believe that, in this case, it is a judgement call.

Taylor went emo and quit. He played in every match and was a big part of their team's success. I personally would rather play them with Taylor and lose and play them and win.

I support the decision much like I would that if you guys decided you wanted to play in the playoffs, Narc should approve that move as well (even if that means we have to play dgf again).

yes i agreed to let him play in the match.. teams let other teams use ringers all of the time, nobody or atleast i don't like forcing teams to FF. would drugs of died if taylor didn't get back on the roster? No they would not have, they have more then enough people on the roster to play out the season. you of all people know they wouldn't of died if taylor wasn't allowed back on the roster.

it's the simple fact that you guys blatantly broke the rule by addding him back to the roster while the rosters were locked for the rest of the season, and it was HIS OWN FAULT that he was OFF the roster.
