I got sick of Infinity Ward when they fucked up MW2 by not allowing dedicated servers. And now they pulled the same thing with MW3 (dedicated server support, but has to be unranked? WTF?). Who the hell is going to play without the unlock system. No dedicated servers = epic fail.

This. Since when does an arcade shooter involve any form of strategy? If you're looking for that, definitely go with Battlefield 3.

I personally didn't buy CoD this year because it's been a rehash of the same game since MW1. If it was $30 I might buy it. You can't really compare MW3 to BF3 though. They are two completely different types of games in regard to playstyles utilized.
If CoD worked online it would be a pretty great game. The game itself is a lot of fun, but it's amazing to me that hl1 had better lag compensation netcode than modern CoD games. Watching the killcams is hilarious... there will be times where the difference in views is close to a second of screentime when playing with the best ping. CoD2 is still the best game in the CoD franchise.

Get both, it ensures that you'll spend the most time possible away from DoD.
