You can run 3.1 on steam, somebody made it like a year ago

Too bad we can't get dod 3.1b to run on steam. Having an 8v8 3.1b tourney would be fun as.....something that's extremely fun.

dod_siracusa_league... haha map is awesome but evil if against a team who knows how to gay it up proper.

which one is ramelle again? is that one of the merderet/sturm versions?

What about doing a "classic" rotation? Could even do a 7v7/8v8 draft

I know of at least 2 teams that have 16+ slot servers and a few more that have 14 slot. They are Open teams and hopefully with some encouragement they would want to participate in the tournament and be gracious enough to lend their servers.

zafod makes me want to kill myself. pubbing it is horrible let alone match play. way to many mg camp spots would make it unbearable. why we played it back in the day is beyond me.

I don't know if you guys remember uberpug!? Well anyways we'd get as many people as we could to join a server on any given night and play classic maps like heatue, cherbourg, anzio, zafod(wasn't fun), ramelle, koln, shwetz etc. It usually ended up being a lot more than 8v8(10/11/12v) however with a little more structure and organization i'm sure we could at least do something similar to this. I think having teams could be an issue I like the idea of maybe points for playing on the winning team or completing most objectives. Completing the objectives was always the most enjoyable part of uberpug! Especially on large maps like heatue and cherbourg.

I have been saying I wanted to do this. Run some of the other maps and do a 7v7 or 8v8. The problem is getting ppl to add slots to their server. Half the teams dont have servers as it is, and I dont see every team that has a server adding slots. If they would or do, I would love to have something like this running along with 6v6 dod. Maybe like a wed night or sunday at 8est.

You could make it round based if you set the respawn timer to something ridiculous like 10 minutes, so that no one would respawn until the objectives were completed or everyone is dead.

I would love and totally play in this. I didn't think there was a way to make maps round-based, if they were that would be sweet. You might just be remembering the para maps though (which were awesome). I say were awesome even though only one of them was taken out, the amazing para_hedgerow. If only we could bring them back with the old cutscenes beforehand haha.

My votes go to Caen, Flugplatz, and Heutau, which I for some reason think would be fun for this, even though I hated the hike. Also, make Caen not lousy british.

It is rather difficult finding even 6 to play... imagine the pain scheduling an 8v8 and getting 16 people to play lol... and there is the server issue as well. I don't see a way of doing that.

In the other hand I find the objective idea more entertaining since there are good maps out here (krafstoff is a very good example where allies need to defend oil drums and a truck where axis needs to "capture" them. Perhaps if we can find a way to shorten the time for capture we can have a good lil objective map tourney!

Isn't there a way to make it CS style, round based?

And some maps can't be camped for a win, such as jagd. 8v8 jagd would be pretty fun I think.

I don't know of all the objective maps, but I believe that are more objective maps than jagd that require BOTH teams to complete an objective, not just one.

Since 3v3 and draft have been done over and over recently, was curious if other people think it would be cool to have a short objective map tournament, or an 8v8 tournament (have to find a 16+ slot server though), so we could play some maps that don't get a lot of attention.

8v8 maps could be: zalec, zafod, caen, escape, jagd, switch, flugplatz, vicenza

objective maps: glider, kraftstoff, escape, jagd, zalec.

It could be combined, since a lot of objective maps are huge, so an 8v8 objective map tourney.

Dunno... was just sitting in class thinking about it. I think it'd be pretty cool.
