Tox is right. The past two drafts I was picked in one of the later rounds and I still ended up playing every match I was available for. If a greater number of people signed up (110+) then maybe it would be worth while to talk about having an upper and lower draft where 6-8 upper captains picked teams and then the remaining players would have their own draft the next day. But this isn't the case and so far there are something like 84 people including captains signed up. So there are roughly 12 people in the "ringer pool" which is fine. Not everyone from the teams are always going to be available and not all the ringers are always going to be available. If people have a problem with the format then they don't have to sign up. Late.

Sucks that people aren't going to play when they want to. Seems like a dumb way of doing things. Shit, just tell everyone to get online on a Saturday/Sunday. Run it all in one day and be done with it. Matches take 45-50 mins, not 4 hours. You could easily run it in 1 to 2 Weekend days (Sunday and the following Sunday, or something). Sundays are match days anyways, and if people can't make it - then it was probably someone who couldn't make the regular tpg season either. I'd rather accommodate people who have played all season than make it an unlimited list and give people who show up once a month the chance to play. Because cool kids people who may not be the best at the game will be fucked in the end. :\
Idk how many times I have to say it.. Most teams last draft needed ringers with a 10 man roster... So we have to base this draft off the previous ones.. If you were not picked for the draft it does suck.. But like any draft, not everyone gets drafted and the better players always get picked first.. It is not a persons RIGHT to play in the draft, it is a privilege.. We were considering not even having it after this season to be honest.. The weekend tournament may work if it weren't spring a lot of people want to be out of the house on weekends. Last draft my team lost in the first round then worked our way back to the lower finals (which we should have won since kalle cheated.) So most the roster saw some playing time.. If you look at the dates there are lots of matches for the losers bracket.. I am willing to change things to make the draft work better as I see fit.. So ideas are always welcome.. I feel having a LIST of ringers would be good to get players in matches.. Captains would be scrambling around trying to get ahold of of players rather than asking some lazy bum who neglected to even sign up.. I like the idea of picking YOUR 3 backups tho.. As a captain you try to pick people you know / can rely on.. whereas if we limited the teams to 7 people youre not sure what you can get out of the ringers list..

That's the point I was getting at. Alex Kirk's brilliant logic of not showing up and making anyone else pick people. I mean, if Alex picked the team, it would have lost both its matches in only one match. We at Logic Land salute you, Jules Winnfield! ;)

If you're going to have a ringer list make each team only have 7 people... with 9 it just seems silly to have a ringer list because everyone will go to their bench first, and then the ringer list is pointless.

Well, look at it this way. Some teams will get eliminated after two matches (and so on) and all players on that team will be ineligible to play for the rest of the season. Players like ourselves will be eligible to play on every match day. Doesn't necessarily mean that we're going to play but, it kind of made me feel better about myself.

Both of my draft teams probably used 9 out of the 10 players on the roster.. and with the tournament shortened to two weeks it gives teams less days to "reschedule" so their "starters" can make it. Yes, I do feel bad about certain players possibly not being able to participate but, it is a draft, and we all know how drafts work. Each draft ringers have been needed I would say in more than half the matches. I feel that having a "ringer" list and enforcing it so that you can only use ringers from that list will give those players a better chance to play.. Rather than just roster sitting.

Stopped reading after first sentence. Not only did I play in the last draft, I WON IT JARED.

Now that I'm not late leaving for class - I understand what you're trying to do with the specific players. In a perfect scenario, each team should only need 7 people. If you're going to sign up, just fucking show up and play. If there is an emergency and you can't, that's different (hence the 7th man). If two people have emergencies -- the ringer list. Giving a roster 9 or 10 people just seems ridiculous when those people could go to making at least 2 more teams. This is all on paper, of course. In actuality, what you're doing by adding the excess players is necessary. I just feel bad for the more unknown people who won't get a chance to play. I know we had two players on our roster last time who were in IM/O and never saw the inside of a server for a minute. :/

I believe 9 guys are more than enough. If it were me given that it will be a 2 week tournament I'd consider doing with 8 players per team, in a total of 8 teams. The reasons of going this way is that most teams who played last drafts used the same 8, 7 and even 6, to start for their teams so tbh I don't see the point letting many people join. Moreover I believe that it would be fair let the first people who signed up rather than let late pick ups gets their spots. First come, first serve. Drafts are supposed to be fun but in the end people get more frustrated than anything else. Let's try making this 3rd "New Era" Draft as pleasant as possible for everyone. I'm with tox in this.

On the draft roster is there a way to add another field for preferred class? I know most of us know what class each player plays but it might be helpful for some when making their picks. Maybe in place of the STEAM ID or maybe another field next to steam ID.

If you want to win, make sure you pick up none other than THE JoelEdmunds and myself to be a dynamic duo for your draft team. In case you didn't know, he's kind of a big deal and has won the other two drafts. I myself have just the right amount of moxie to guide him towards YOUR victory.
