Worst DoD related decision possible: To play DoD.

Hmm, a dod decision for me....

Decided to play TPG3v3 late in the season when I was on StormTroopers to help them out. It was week 8, and they were 9th seed. I destroyed whatever team it was so bad we jumped 2 spots, so we were officially in the playoffs in seed 7! First round we played the 2nd seeded team, and we won by a good margin on my favourite 3v3 map of all time.....TENSIONS! So off to the 2nd round we go, we face [K-2] who is the 3rd seed. on blitz_magenta....and I annihilate them! :D So we are off to the finals!! Seed 7 StormTroopers vs seed 1 Victory Party on dod_rennes (worst map ever). Maverick, ChrisFunk, and I, versus holy_skull, RydN, and Airnick15. Match goes back and forth for most of the game, let's jump ahead to the last 2 minutes! Victory Party is up by a cap, they are pressing hard for another cap, we kill off all 3 of them, and cap out with 1 minute left, so we are up by maybe 2 points. Gotta hold them off, so what do we do? Capout with 4 seconds left. Not only did we rob Airnick of his rightfully owned TPG3v3 Lower championship ring (ahem..sandbagger) but we won our first league championship in quite some time! Now what would have happened if I didn't play? ahhhhh... who knows! [=

Suck it Nick <3
As soon as I saw 3v3, I knew the dark place that was going for me. :(

You never know who's into online gaming though, it might surprise you. I say insert that clip at the end of your "real" answer and see what the prof has to say. He/she(yes more women are getting into gaming it seems) might take a liking to a more laid back decision than a life altering one. Back during '05 when I last played my team leader did the same thing. Hotsauce was franco, and I happened to be Adam. The only difference was that Hotsauce got all pissy and left the team b/c I took his rifle spot. Ran into him many of scrims and you could tell he was trying for redemption.

A Homework Assignment turned DoD story

by Airnick15 » Fri May 20, 2011 1:06 pm

I am taking an Organizational Behavior class for my online MBA, and came across this question for a homework assignment:

Now that you have read the following article “What You Don’t Know About Making Decisions”, I want you to tell me how you make decisions. Tell me a story about a time when you feel proud of yourself on a decision you have made. What made this experience interesting, meaningful and significance? Who was there with you and what did they do? What exactly did you do? How did you feel about yourself in this decision making process? What lesson(s) have you learned about effective decision making in this experience? (one page/single space)

So here is the best answer that came to mind, yet sadly I won't be able to share with the professor. It serves as both humorous commentary (at least a little I hope) and story of our team last season. Enjoy.

One decision that I was very proud to make occured during my career as a competitive Day of Defeat player, which I still am today. This occured a few months ago, when, as leader of the team, I was forced to sit one of our players down, as he was getting repeatedly shitstomped in TPG Lower (filled with players your age who are probably as good as you, and yes I realize you don't even know what Day of Defeat is) despite using a kar...I know, the fucking kar!!! How does that happen?! Anyway, Franco was struggling and I tried to give him time to work his way out of the funk, but it never happened. I gave him constant praise of the things that he did right and tried to motivate him (something all of the teammates I have played with throughout the years can attest to being one of my strengths), but it was to no avail. Sadly, I was forced to replace him with Adam who, after a shaky start, became an instrumental piece of the team, highlighted by his performance during our playoff run. In the end, we triumphed over a determined opponent in the championship match despited facing daunting adversity in that match, such as trailing after the first half and facing multiple disconnects during the match. In addition to that, our heavy weapons team, also known as Rambo #1 and Rambo #2, were getting their asses throughly handed to them by less skilled, yet more composed players who realized that "Hey, I can just sit here and wait for them to keep suicide rushing me with reckless abandon. Easy game!" Despite this, a teammate named Blake Lennon along with myself decided to go into 1998 MJ/Pippen mode, and willed our team to victory through great perserverance and sheer determination. This difficult decision is perhaps the most successful one of my life, as it benefited an entire group of e-friends and led to a championship celebration after the match that could not be matched.

Sadly, that was created in about 5 minutes. I care too much about DoD. Time to do Predictions now...
