Re: best players over the years

by roy » Sun May 29, 2011 2:07 am

whats good everyone! glad to see everyone is still hanging in there. heres my vote for best...

1st team

sniper
marshall drummin - At the peak of the game, him and beas carried hb over x6 at summer cpl.
rifle
dorito : best player on the best team for a couple of years
kellen : i still remember the anzio hill hold at summer cpl. think he got 5 while last one standing. not 100% on that one
heavy

shiftypowers : a lot of heavies tried to emulate his style of running around with flawless aim destroying everything in site.
ninjuh : i went head to head against ninjuh in railcar once. i went 10-40 or something.
all-purpose
bleargh : probably 1 of the most underrated dod players. didn't get enough credit for being really good

2nd team
sniper
scorch : you could put him as a rifle as well but whatever gun he played, he always got good results

rifle
dyelife : he made everyone else better on the team. if it wasn't for time running out he would have an invite title over a very strong x6 squad
ackpth : 1 of the top rifles during the peak of the game.

heavy
profiction : one of the 1st matches i played in invite was against unsung heroes. propro dominated us dinkers.
max : could literally hold half of the map down with his aim and his brain.

all-purpose
shotgunbill : he played all 6 position and played them well

the rest
sniper : crus/tofu/moneyb/cypher

rifle : deadbeat/strife/cyan/maingoes

heavy : jdub/cableguy/seven/pie

all-purpose : shotgunderek/fusion/scrd

Heavies: Max, Ninjuh, profiction, DR, shifty, le

Rifles: dorito, deadbeat, cyan, oxossi, chosen, plex (pre 1.0), strifetoe, kellen, scrd

Snipers: MD, scorch, Josh (pre 1.0), crus, Netherhell, gh0d (when my brother was dedicated to this game he could hang with any sniper out there)

Lights/3rd: fusion, Redatticus, showtime (random as all hell), ward

I would choose never to play a south american team 100% percent of the time. even if you get around the ping difference which really isn't the issue - then you have to adapt to unnecessarily slow tactics, the whole experience is just an awful one.

Yeah ignore that Cass. Since the NA/SA separation happened looks like some people forgot how to play against SA teams. Its just general whining, and they feel they have to play with their binds after killing you. Its really surprising there wasn't a separate division back when DoD was big. I suspected them to combine the NA/SA teams once it got to the point at which it is now. The community as a whole has matured ALOT from back in 2004-05; you just still have the general asshats that attempt to ruin the fun. Looking forward to seeing you in more 12 mans Cass : D

you weren't at the last socal lan with the other thunder guys? man, i just remember the last time i played against you on harrington axis half... just getting shot before i could react. just thinking to myself... it's gone I can't do it anymore. who all was on that thunder team that came out for the socal lan in san diego?

the last socal the team was kyran, ryanemo, specops, john gale, menace and iorio. i dont think they played you guys on harrington though so you may be thinking of the previous socal or the x3o when we played you guys on harrington and i actually got to snipe at a lan for once hahaha

Instead of dealing the situation politely he went to their iRC channel demanding his unban. After not get an "prompt answer" he started cursing all admins that were present at the moment and voila: ended up suspended. He acted like a jerk and in my opinion the admins were right on suspending him.

Sears pretty much took on remaking 1911 exactly for that reason. He told me that one day he had an epiphany that in order for people to fully appreciate his comedic genius, he had to have the ability to drop the gifs and jpegs, and that the guise of DoD nostalgia would be the perfect ruse. Well played sir.

no doubt you were a top player corey-
it's easy to get frags when a player is moved up and can anticipate when and where people will be comming from. most of the players listed were on very successful teams. i think iorio did a very good job of maintaining a steady frag count even when our team was backed to our first which was more often than not.
all i was saying was that for the ammount of time he played i thought it was pretty impressive how quickly he became a top tier player. i can only imagine if he started playing when the game was released for retail or in 3.1b. because of this i think so many people deserve recognition, throughout my years of playing the game i've seen different players become unstoppable and unstoppable players get dominated. it really all depends on how much time the individual played at one time, the team, and the ammount of competetive teams that were playing at the time.

Haha, I did pretty well up until that last LAN. I think everyone on your team crapped all over us at that one in san diego. The aim would come back in a few matches but the reaction time definitely didn't. You could outplay me pretty convincingly by the time the LANs stopped happening. I seem to remember iorio being pretty quick, but I can't recall playing any specific games against his teams.

iorio pretty much dominated every time he played. i don't think he really had trouble with any sniper in the game, not only that but he was able to pick up a weapon and continue capping flags. most of the players that i've seen being listed played from 3.1b to retail. iorio only played retail and wasn't on a championship team but would still drop 40's on championship teams.
