Deleted my USB drivers and rebooted, and now it doesn't affect my keyboard anymore, so at the very least I can alt tab or run screaming away from bad guys. I've switched USB ports for the mouse, and it hasn't stopped working yet, but you're probably right since I've had this thing for a few years now. Thanks for saving me a reformat!

I have a usb keyboard and usb mouse and when my mouse would go on the fritz, my keyboard would stop ressponding also. When I got a new mouse, the keyboard issues went away too.

They are. I still get sound from my USB headset though, so I didn't think it was that, but I'm pretty PC-retarded.

Mouse & keyboard problem

by joeledmunds » Thu Sep 20, 2012 7:48 am

I'm having a ridiculously annoying problem where my mouse and keyboard stop working simultaneously. It could happen while I'm browsing the internet, playing a game, or watching a movie. It doesn't matter, it shows up regardless. Both devices completely stop responding, but everything else goes on fine. Videos continue playing, I receive steam messages, and games continue to run just fine, with the exception of me being able to do anything at all.

I've found out that it fixes itself when I put my computer to sleep and turn it back on again, but I'm sure that's not good for it, and unplugging the device and plugging it back in does nothing. I've updated my drivers, ran Malware, CCleaner, did a defrag and a virus scan, to no effect. Please help before I punt this thing out the fucking window.
