Now that classic thing is coming to it's end, I'd set up wednesday as a good new day for nightcups, with only 8 teams and 3 rounds of play (qtr finals, semi finals and finals), open to all divisions and players (sa/europeans allowed). Given that sunday is already TPG's default day and I really don't see teams playing three matches one after another in a business day, I propose arranging these brand new nightcups in a 3 week time spam format, as follows:
- One round of play per night (meaning that all qtr finals matches would have to be played in a given wednesday, leading the semi finals to be played on the subsequent wednesday, with the finals played on the very next wednesday).
- No show = forfeit win to the opposing team, no re-schedule.
- Matches can be
exceptionally postponed to sunday if there is a euro team in one of the brackets (for obvious reasons both teams have to agree on that, if the north american team declines on postponing the match, too bad).
- Nightcup teams can only have up to 3 players of an already existing team of the regular 6v6. European teams can use their full team if they want to.
- First come, first serve. Teams that didn't make it to the nightcup will be put in a pending queue.
- Rules, maps and configs as same as regular season.
Or else,
We can settle the nighcups on sundays, 8 teams, 3 matches in a row, pretty much similar to what the euros had in a recent past (
ED nightcups) with matches starting 8 PM GMT (3 PM EST) until 10 PM GMT (5 PM EST). I believe that could potentially limit the numbers of american teams participating but this could be a option. Maybe we could rotate the format from a nigthcup to another, with TPG Nightcup #1 happening on wednesday and TPG Nightcup #2 happening on a given sunday.
Anyway, this is just an idea of getting things rolling. We could have the 3v3 back but frankly I don't see a full season of 3v3 gathering as much as attention/fun of fast cups could bring. As many of us can retire overnight due to our daily commitments and these nigthcups would serve mostly for the people who can't commit themselves into playing a full season.
Any (constructive) suggestion?
