I've been playing DOD since the first public alpha was released.
I'm relatively new to TPG, only played a few seasons and only know a few people besides my own team.

Don't worry about it I was very drunk when I posted my reply. I'm actually kind of embarrassed that I rambled off my DOD resume haha

Thank you for explaining what read only means Tin bad. What chris means is that even if your cfg is read only and you restart dod the rate command still dosent save. People need to start checking it before matches because were getting tired of suspending people off of spite disputes about rates.

I think this is how it works:
Even if you have your config set to read only and join a pub - the pubs rates will over ride yours no matter what. So your rates will change. But it stops it from being saved into your config.

The difference in setting it to read only makes it so once you completely exit/quit dod, your rates in your config will apply the next time you start DoD.

If you join a pub and then go to scrim/play a match without Exiting/Quitting DoD, then you are still using the pub rates (IF they changed it in the first place - Most do). I always try and remember to exit out of DoD and then join the match server.

If you don't have it set to read only, whatever rates the pub set will be saved into your config and will be used the next time you load DoD.

I hope all that makes sense.

Playing with ringers is usually accepted. As far as a rate enforcer that would be legit. KS is probably the only team to check steamids / rates. Sometimes joining a stupid pub can fuck with your shit, which is why I always recommend to making your config read only. But people still cant handle doing that in dod 2012.

Such a thing can most likely be done. You would basically want like a HLSW type mod that works in game. For all I know that already exists.

This service is done and I found someone to do the server mod side of things, so we could see this soon.

The one thing I had to do though was not go off server IP, because IPs resolving to host names sometimes resolved to a different hostname than was listed in the team's server info (if they didn't use an IP). Also, if two or more teams shared a server on the same night this could complicate things as well. Instead you will pass in your match number to this service. I will put the match number on the TPG website.

So you would type in console: "roster_check 2345" and the output would be something like this:
STEAM_0:0:000000 is not rostered.
STEAM_0:1:599423 is suspended.

or like this if all steam IDs pass:
All players are rostered and not suspended.

something to do with CAL wasn't it? I know there was something for custom models and sprites too. It wouldn't let you join unless you had all default models and such.

The server mod would just have to submit IP address and steam IDs to the web service and I would return text that should be displayed on the screen.

Has anyone written server mods? I have an idea that would be fairly easy to implement from the server-side (I might code it myself if no one else already knows how), but what it would like to do is have a mod that when you type a console command will take the server IP address and all the player steam IDs and submit them to a web service that checks all the Steam IDs against the roster of the two teams playing in the match and will display on the screen if anyone is suspended or a ringer. It would accomplish this by comparing the IP address on the teams' profile page, so you would have to have your server information entered into your team page for this idea to work (or I could try and parse the scheduling conversations looking for the word "connect"). If the person is a ringer it could even tell if that person is on another team, so you would know if it is a TPG-I ringer or a TPG-O ringer.

Anyone want to do the server mod side of this for me and I'll do the web service side that does all the comparing? I know display text on the screen should be fairly easy. There are tons of examples of that. I'm not sure about how easy it would be to make a call to a web service though. I know it is possible though.
