Took the Source specific look down. NOw its DOD Covered

I can agree with some of you on the temperature and attitude on the 2 communities. At this point I think the DOD:S community has gotten to be WAY to immature. I can attest it has been that way since its inception. The community has been a slurry of obnoxious jerks, egomaniacl butt heads, and the rest are just really cool people. To say most of the DOD:S community wasn't full of Trolls would be untrue but it does seem that way.

Looking at the 1.3 community I can say its a lot more respectful and more grown up. Also there was a post here saying that DOD:S players are 1.3 players. I used to play 1.3 a long long long time ago. But since the release of DOD:S I can't play it any more. You guys can actually carry out a conversation on your forums without it turning into a flame fest. I think the forum activity kind of died down when I implemented the anti-troll rules.

Now as for the DCN Site. I am not going to make excuses for it. I am trying to make it easy to change, easy to use and keep redundancy for error very low. I can understand its a big change but I am working on it a little more each day to make it better for everyone. I am by no means a professional an I am learning a lot of this as I go so forgive me if the site isn't as amazing as you thought it could be.

As far as the 2 communities coming together is concerned I can say it won't happen unless one message board took over and merged with the other and that would be the only way. You would have to force the 2 communities to interact in the same area.

At this point I am grateful to Narc for coming over and helping us grow and I appreciate you guys for coming along and helping out. I am trying to build it up and make it better for you guys as I go along. That includes making less clicks to get information. I am all for people helping me out. Unlike most league pages its not built off some forum bullshit or made from some special system. This is all 100% hand built line by line. I wanted this league to be straight forward and to the point and thats what I am trying to achieve.

As far as Trypants is concerned, I welcome anything which helps the community grow and Trypants is doing it. I can't state my person views on it because that would be biased but I can tell you its built off our old FDL page which is something more DODS players ahve been confused about since FDL S1 so we will see how well they get along.

Its hard enough to fix shit if I hear it through the grape vine instead of coming straight from the horses mouth. I am working to fix things for you guys ASAP but it just takes a little patience. I would like some input on how it wasnt directed properly. I tried my best to get teams signed up, pick a decent staff. Make a set of rules, and configs. I am not happy with the site, since before it was even posted. I tried to get some things changed and I did, but some of my ideas to make it better was to difficult and would have ment to build another site. I am stuck with what he has made. It took me months to even make my mind up to even try and have another league. Im just not sure what I could have done more of. Im open to any ideas or mistakes that I made. When I was presented with it, I was told this is where the source community is. So I felt it was worth a shot to merge the two. Then I heard about the dislike for DCN and source players going to TPL. I said to murdock its hard to compete with a league that has cash. I asked if it was going to be every season and he wasnt sure. That tells me after the money is gone source teams may all come to DCN and would be the way it was planned, but honestly I dont really care what happens to source, we have been a seperate community for years and if it stays like that fine, if we merge via DCN league, kudos. But I wont lose sleep over it. So basically all Im saying is I tried. Not sure what you ment by not directed properly. I just thought it would be worth a shot having two 1.3 leagues. If the site is that bad, we can forget about DCN and just have TPG. Rwc and I been friends for 10 years, and we have no ill feelings towards each other about two leagues, if one dont work we still have the other. So yea /end rant

I'd be fine with more people coming here. Then we could tell them how fucking terrible source is.

I think it's worth a shot just so you can have the opportunity of luring players of that shitty game towards a somewhat more active 1.3 league. 1.3 will most likely live on long past the days of source, seeing as how it refuses to die.

As annoying as some people in the 1.3 community are, the DoD:S community is uniformly obnoxious. Imagine someone half as mature as Black Hawk, twice as dickish as D-bo, and a tenth the intelligence of shreddies. That is your template for the typical dod:s player.

But the idea of a single community hub is the basis of DCN. The idea is genius. Unfortunately the execution is lacking. DCN should be the one site for dod: a forum community serving the purpose 1911 currently fulfills, a media outlet (for movies and demos), and worldwide source and 1.3 leagues. Right now it's just a league site for a dead source division and a 1.3 division that has yet to kick off. The movies section is cool but nobody is using it for anything but source vids. I've really been a strong proponent of DCN from the start, but it just hasn't been directed properly.

Oh, and the DCN website is unusable.

I don't know about that. 1911 was always a dod nerd thing. Back when the game was alive new members were slowly welcomed to the community. I just assumed sears put this back up so random nerds would have a place to troll each other with gotfrag all sorts of dead. Seems weird to be trying to get new members to a site like this, but as long as they're entertaining it can't hurt right?

O so there is more than one league for DoD:S. Either way I still think we have more teams.

Part of that is because the Source community is fighting amongst itself right now.

To the best of my knowledge, the owner of DCN is fueding with the owner of Trypants (Murdock), causing the community to split between the two of them.

That might be true but the 1.3 community has more teams in DCN (Which from my understanding is the league that most DoD:S teams use) so we can easily just rub that in there faces.

That being said, I'd be open to it if the Source community showed a strong interest in using 1911.

I agree with pinecone. Not taking in DoD:S is like shooting ourselves in the foot. Both communities are hurting right now and having one main site that we all communicate through(1911) would only benefit us. It would make both games seem more alive and well. The more the better.

Aren't most the dod:s players dod players as well?

I think some of them will end up here simply because of joining the 1.3 league. FRB (Fried Rice Beans) looks to be a source team that joined the 1.3 league; perhaps once this season ends more will join (if FRB is successful). From what I can tell from the DCN forums they're an upper source team and a couple have 1.3 experience, but that don't mean shit in 1.3. To me they're a completely different community; comparing 1.3 to source is comparing apples to oranges.

I was just looking at the DCN website and I realized there is a lot of activity on their forums but not recently. I assume a big reason why we all decided to join DCN was to help fuse the two communities back together, 1.3 and Source. Maybe 1911 should consider having a DoD:S section on the forums. I mean we can already all tell that the DCN website sucks and from what I can tell the forums aren't much better. I am sure a little mix on 1911 would only help strengthen the communities themselves.
