i agree but these guys he's fighting in this tier are not gonna leave themselves open for that kind of a hit.

His most exciting fight was the one against Condit and it wasn't him being exciting, it was Carlos Condit bringing a fight to Georges. GSP is a dominant fighter, but god damn he is boring as hell. That is the biggest difference between him and champions like Jon Jones or Anderson Silva. Both are beasts in their weight classes and finish fights. GSP will somehow be able to dominate anyone who goes into the cage with him, but still be unable to finish.

Another thing that I have noticed and surprises me is how mental he is. In some of his tough fights he will ask his corner if he is winning or if he looks good. I think that is a sign of someone who is can be broken.
GSP fights his style, it's not a "knockout" or "finishing" style, it's a "let's go 5 rounds and out fight my opponent".. Every fight I watch of him he fights 1 level smarter than the other guy, like he said after this fight "Diaz is a boxer and I can't out box him, so I stood an extra step back and fought using shoot boxing". He generally fights to the style his opponent likes but finds a way to render them useless in some way (like shoot boxing a boxer). He is also one of the fittest fighters I've watched and because of that I believe he enjoys going to 5 rounds knowing that he will have more stamina than the other guy every time.

I don't know if your last line is saying he can be broken mentally, but I definitely think the opposite. He has the most level frame of mind out of any fighter I've watched, never gets distracted in the ring and is always 100% focused. About the talking to his corner, I think the reasoning behind that is he wants to know if he's winning so that he doesn't have to put himself in dangerous situations and can pick his shots/ control the fight his way. Asking if he looks good is probably because a beat up face to the judges gets scored lower.

On Diaz, I haven't watched many of his fights but most of the takedown stuffs he had on GSP looked more like a weak GSP takedown attempt than anything, you could tell because in the later rounds he went back to timing his power takedowns and succeeded. Diaz gave him his back and pretty much went for one move the entire match which was holding GSP's wrist and trying to roll, GSP countered this by punching with his free hand and when shots weren't there anymore or he felt the roll coming he hopped to the other side and repeated. So did Diaz tho, same attempt just with the other arm, surprise surprise it didn't work. Eventually Diaz started trying to stand but never made any explosive attempts at it so whenever he got up on his legs GSP would just whip his weight and Diaz's to the ground causing Diaz to fall back onto his knees, this repeated several times as well. One thing I will give him credit for is crawling from the middle to the cage and getting up that way, that was actually fairly impressive to watch.

Diaz is also a bitch for taking a swing after the bell on round 3 (or 2 but I think it was the third) this might have just been a tactic to throw GSP off his game but GSP clearly didn't get rattled..

And I'm not trying to bash Diaz I really don't know much about him, just saying that he didn't seem effective this match. I'll give him credit that he attempted to kimura lock or arm bar GSP at one point and I actually yelled at the screen because I thought GSP got caught in it.

hendricks does have 1 shot knock out power. being high level doesn't necessarily mean you have a chin that can take it.

he's definitly not a one shot kill against top level fighters. conduit took many lefts and was never phased. hendricks will need to improve the other elements of his game to beat gsp because gsp is not gonna stand there and let him hit him.

GSP is a master tactician, plain and simple. He is the smartest fighter to fight in the UFC and executes a game plan that he and his team come up with months in advance.

GSP will lose eventually, you can see he's getting older.

Until someone brings the fight to George and is as well conditioned as him, he will not lose.

Hell he did his best standing with that karate jab covering distance. If this were a fight to the death or a real life street fight Nick Diaz all the way, but because the way the ufc current rules (take down/top position even though a guy on the bottom is doing more damage just bc of the position he gets the points). I understand why GSP does what he does....it works and if it aint broke dont fix it. I don't get excited for gsp fights anymore, I only cared bc he was fighting Diaz, but Condit and Hendricks put on a MUCH better show and frankly saved the card. Those of you screaming super fight between GSP and Silva are crazy. Silva would murder him just because he only needs 1 shot to win. Who here felt Condit won the fight over Hendricks? I sure as hell did because he was beating on him from everywhere, top, bottom, flying knees and front kicks. Hendricks was able to secure enough lame ass take downs to out point Condit, but I bet you money Condit went home in MUCH better shape then Hendricks was. Also Hendricks calling out GSP is just a waste of time, because GSP goes what hendricks does better and he won't stand in front of him long enough to allow him to land the overhand. There is so much more that goes into it then what alot of people see with just regular fans, but anyone who trains or has ever done mma fights know who really wins. Now we get to see GSP out hold and out point yet another fighter in Hendricks later on in the year. Bottom line people pay to see fights (ex: Condit vs Hendricks) not lame ass take down/hold down wall walk repeat etc.... The fight was in GSP home town so either way he could do no wrong but me personally im not a fan of GSP and never will be. I'd much rather pay my money to see Diaz vs Hendricks.

I dont think Diaz gives a flying fuck about Hendricks. He's done his time if the UFC wants his draw it should be a title fight. He has earned it and I dont think he cares too much about the UFC ladder. I agree Hendricks wont have much luck against GSP, I think it will be GSPs first submission in years though. Hendricks will have to wrestle his way out of alot submission attempts and I just dont know if he can manage it for 5 rounds. I would rather see a Diaz rematch to be perfectly honest. I dont think Diaz will be as careful as he was the next time and will probably push the fight more.

I love GSP but your right Stile he's a snoozefest of late. To be fair to Nick he blocked a bunch of GSP take downs which no one has been able to do. He gave his back without care showing his BJJ is unique and better than anyone elses' aside from maybe Voldemort Maia in Welterweight. I give props to Diaz I dont think anyone will be able to fight GSP so well and I dont think GSP won all the rounds in my opinion anyway. Im a huge GSP fan but he needs to end some fights if he wants to cement the legacy he continues to talk about. Here's a pic my friends and I made at the bar watching the fight im sure you all will enjoy.

well.. GSP did what he does, controlled the fight, made it go 5 rounds and in the end Diaz now wants to quit UFC..

Yeah, I agree. Nick's boxing is too good. I think GSP beats him by taking it to the ground and staying in control. I'm guessing it'll be a long grind it out fight, and that Diaz will just be a little outmatched. I hate Diaz, and would like to see him get clocked, but it's simply not going to happen unless GSP has been doing some super secret Mike Tyson training

Georges St. Pierre > Nick Diaz - take him down early and often, punish him on the ground, most likely UD

Carlos Condit > Johny Hendricks - Condit is an animal

Jake Ellenberger > Nate Marquardt - Marquardt just doesn't fight at the same level he did 6 years ago

Chris Camozzi < Nick Ring - poops

Mike Ricci < Colin Fletcher - i like the movie fletch

GSP all the way. Tough fight so it'll probly end by a TKO or judges score

Re: UFC 158: Diaz vs GSP

GSP all the way, he won't disappoint the hometown fans.. I also think that he wouldn't ever let someone rile him up enough to get him off his game, he is one of the most conscious fighters I have watched and adapts his style to the weakness of his opponent..

Who ya got? Definitely a very top heavy card. I am considering actually buying this one instead of the usual methods, but the bottom 2 fights are a complete joke of a main card that I might not out of spite.

Its hard to pick against GSP because he has been so dominate, but i think Diaz has got in his head and might make him fight over emotionally. Add in the fact that Diaz is always pushing forward and constantly throwing punches, he definitely has a good shit.

Condit vs Hendriks will be a good fight depending on Condit. If all he does is run away from Hendriks like he did against Diaz, it will be a boring decision. I really can't stand the way his game is evolved since his awesome WEC days and there is not a single person to blame other than Greg Jackson. Jackson's camp has become point fighting 101.
