it gets ALOT better, just takes a good amount of time to get everything set. its going to be slightly different for each person based on their comp/internet

New DoD update

I'm gonna real fast tell you what settings you should use after the update, the link below will explain more thorrow.

IN CONFIG:
fps_override 1
fps_max 120 (use same fps_max value as hertz on your monitor to experience the best flow)
m_rawinput 1
gl_vsync 0
snd_noextraupdate 1 (Provides better performances for PCs)
m_mousethread_sleep 1,2 or 3 (Mouse hertz setting - 1=1000hertz 2=500hertz 3=125hertz)

IN LAUNCH OPTIONS:
-mousethread (activates the m_mousethread_sleep command)
-nofbo (Goes back using old Open GL settings, like before the update. If you want to achive 4:3 aspect ratio, this is the only way)
-nomsaa (If gameplay feels OK, but you dont want anti-aliasing)
Wort mentioning is that -freq doesnt work anymore. Download Refresh Lock to lock hertz. For some the mouseacc settings in launch option doesnt work anymore. Make sure you remove all acceleration in Windows. Download Mousemovement Recorder to be sure that its turned off.

NEW RATES:
-rate 100000 (Valve have changed maxrate from 30k to 100k, this wont matter unless sv_maxrate on server is set to 100k. Rate is the amount of bytes per second you want the server to send you. It has nothing to do with how good your opponent will hit you. So stop lowrating cause of it.)
-cl_updaterate 100 (new default value is 60)
-cl_cmdrate 105 (new default value is 60)
-ex_interp 0.01 (They are maybe thinking of making 0.01 new default value, which we would love)
-cl_nosmooth 1 (Removes the smoothening effect and instead shows true movement of players.)

In Options --> Video - you should have everything unchecked. Only thing that should be filled in is "Allow custom addon content".
If your video card is old and you now and then experience fps lag. Then choose Low Quality video.

Re-add your custom xhair. When you did the update DoD somehow managed to fuck it up. So just remove it and add it again.

I will not answer questions on steam regarding this. That's why Im making this guide.

READ MORE HERE:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... 8794#34088
For those of you that don't read the tpg site. This is quoted from it. I know you said you're not answering questions about it, but for anyone else that wants to, i do have a question.

After setting -mousethread as a launch command, I'm still not able to use m_mousethread_sleep in day of defeat. The command works in cs, and i was wondering if there are any commands that would stop this cvar from getting injected into dod? :D

Also for people with mouse accel problems the -noforce commands are rumored (by Alfred) to still work. :D

EDIT: forgot to add for people on shitty comps like myself, or anyone in general really if the -nomsaa command doesn't work, try gl_ansio 0. Same command, just not a launch option
If -nofbo doesn't work to take away black bars, try the launch command -strechaspect

Changes from the update concerning dod still remain very well hidden (apart from broken and/or visible missing things like d3d and eax). The only info we got at the moment, is that we now have r_detailtextures as option in game settings, isn't that awesome?

Re: New DoD update..

I asked my server provider to reinstall the server.. And suddenly with pingboost 3 I can go really high with sys_ticrate without making the server speeded. And I can reach up to like 10 000 fps.. Would be enough with 1500fps thou.

Anyone read anything about the update regarding server settings? Except maxrate 10k.

It was more annoying on your server than EuS war server. So I doubt its that.
Our an EuS server have same pingboost and ticrate.
For me atleast, 120fps solved it.
I don't have the problem at all in scrim/match servers. I ALWAYS have the problem in public servers. What's odd is that the skipping gets progressively worse the longer I play in the public server.

I had that skipping issue with automatics before the update, and still do sometimes.

An1maL, I'll test it out when I get home from work tonight and see if I have the same issue.

And as said before, tapping the primary fire button stops you shooting uncontrollably after respawn.

Re: New DoD update..

anyone else noticed on shitty servers, heavy weapons (particularly STG) drops bullets a lot and stutters, making it really hard to control recoil? this used to happen with fps_max 101 before the update, and settings fps_max 90 was necessary. now that doesn't work however :O

i managed to improve it a lot by settings fps_max to a non-integer value. see comparison on a shitty polish server (first clip fps_max 80, second clip fps_max 80.574574):

Vw6Otr1vuTQ

someone else pls test if you've got this stuttering bug. capping rate to 20k or so might help also? note, on decent servers this actually made it worse, so better to keep a normal fps_max and then change it only if you get stutters

I have my desktop at 60hz, and my game is higher using the -freq in the command line. For some reason the game wasn't picking that up anymore. So I just tried putting my desktop hz to the same frequency (lowering the resolution) as I want on dod and it went back to normal.

I ordered the monitor that you guys were talking about earlier (ASUS 144hz one) and it should arrive today. This will sort the issue out as I'm guessing 144hz is on all of its resolutions? So it wont make a difference what desktop setting I have.
I use 120hz on desktop and in game and can't go any higher than fps_max 99.5 without the heavies going full retard. And on the other hand some people are saying 120hz + fps_max 120 is the only time the heavies DON'T skip for them. No consistency to the problem from what I've found.

Re: New DoD update..

by scorch- » Sun Apr 07, 2013 3:29 pm

So, I figured out my problem. My monitor is a 120 Hz LCD. If I cap my fps at 120 (or a multiple thereof like 240, 360, etc) I don't get the choppiness. I thought that having turned off "wait for vertical sync" would have caused this problem to not exist, but i did have to cap my fps to a multiple of my monitor refresh rate.

Re: New DoD update..

by 3SidedQuarter » Sat Apr 06, 2013 7:40 pm

getting 500-600 fps without developer is awesome. if your having fps problems make sure you have :
fps_override 1
fps_max "whatever you want"
fps_modem 0

i havent noticed any problems with my fps jumping up and down unless i try to go above 500. keeping it at 3-400 right now and runs smooth and helps with recoil a bit.

All you really have to do is the -nofbo launch option, and then get rid of the vsync commands and HD models, then do the mouse commands and probably play around with your sensitivity a bit after. The fps override command is pretty useful too. All the commands you want are written in this thread

I can't say anything about what it's like on your computer, with your sensitivity. All I'm saying is that rawinput is rawinput. Doesn't get any less complicated than that. Thou after the update some people have noticed that the no accel commands in launch options doesnt work.

This. 0 is what it seems like what it used to be like prior to the update. When I set it to 1, which I now kinda like, its way more touchy and sensative.

I cant really render more than 80fps anyway, so that's where I lock it. My updaterate has always matched my fps lock, and it always will.
