Carlos of slow loris will be joining me for this last week of the regular season. I am hoping to interview members of teams playing in the upcoming playoffs, so anyone who would like to do interviews or be interviewed let me know so we can involve as many teams playing as possible.
Upper:
Match of the Week: slow loris vs.
THUNDER
I'm not too enthused about playing THUNDER on RR2. Not only have they added two-thirds of coL to their roster, and jared mundy has 60+ hours of dod, but worst of all, this team has a chimpanzebra sniping. You might ask, what the fuck is a chimpanzebra? And how did it get onto THUNDER? Questions not many can answer, but this very mystery is what makes this creature all the more threatening. We shall pray to slow loris to give us courage and strength.
Carlos’ pick: glhf!
slow loris sticks around in the MOTW category due to their 4 game winning streak after barely losing to dgf in their first match as a team. They have beat 3 solid teams during this span, and definitely are a team to be feared come playoff time. However, if there is one team that may not fear them, it should be THUNDER. They beat a tough WR team by FF last week (they may not have otherwise) to make them 8-1 on the season. This is a map that depends on controlling the middle, and having a good sniper is always a plus. chimpanzebra and hildebrand both meet that requirement, but ultimately I see THUNDER’s skill overwhelming slow loris.
Airnick’s pick: THUNDER by 80
Players to watch
THUNDER: chimpanzebra, JgN
slow loris: hildebrand, shoguN
Winnfield & Sons vs.
GameSpy Rangers
Winnfield will take this one, but it will require perseverance. With GSR facing a chance at not making playoffs (depending on other matches), winning this match will likely mean as much to GSR as GotFrag does to eman. I feel Austin’s retarded no scopes and Alex’s good taste in music will ultimately give Winnfield the edge here.
Carlos’ pick: W&S by 150
W&S had a solid win over 99, no doubt due in part to Kirk’s knowledge of and love for chemille. GSR lost again handily last week and find themselves outskilled here, so I don’t see how they can pull it out
Airnick’s pick: W&S by 150+
Players to watch
W&S: nomis, seveNl
GSR: MAJL, Mino
team 99 vs.
team risK
Both of these teams are full of players that don't really care about dod anymore, except for Patten. Based off of recent match trends I’d say team 99 has this one. But then again, risK still has cableguy and vasily. With the amount of talent of both sides, this would be MOTW if these teams weren’t both held back by their own lack of care/scrims/getting 6 on match night.
Carlos’ pick: 99 by 9
99 is coming off of a loss to W&S, but definitely seems to be in contention for one of the better middle tier teams in Upper. They have a solid roster and good chemistry, and will always keep it close. I was hoping to see how risk did against LcM so I could have a better feel for where they are at, but that match hasn’t occurred yet. risK looked strong prior to consecutive losses to W&S and slow loris, but still seem to have a good team. I’ll go with 99 in a close one here.
Airnick’s pick: 99 by 40
Players to watch
99: stealth, acetamino (assuming he isn’t lagged out during half of the match)
risK: patten, cableguy
Wraith Rangers vs.
dirty ghetto f**ks
If WR ever had hope of winning a match this season, it's with hXc on their team. But in order to beat dgf, he would probably need to drop around 50 per half (which means he would make 30 cents this match). But with bullgooselooney looking like Jaggon in fotw's lately, as well as the addition of dod great "Yaso" to their roster, dgf is looking favourable here. In the end, this will probably be a blowout for dgf, as most players on WR will get more pleasure out of TKing Blackhawk than actually playing their match.
Carlos’ pick: dgf by 50
It seems that Blackhawk learned last week that everything isn’t made from dreams because if that were true, his team would have fielded 6. Okay, tattoo related humor is all I have to say about WR really. Dgf shouldn’t have any problems here and should be able to end the season with 5-5 after this one.
Airnick’s pick: dgf by 100+
Players to watch
WR: hXc, MakheN
dgf: mogers, bull
Donkey PunchN Krew vs.
Lawnchair Mafia
Assuming both of these teams have a desire to make playoffs (doubtful), this is probably the most meaningful match in Week 8. Chris Coventry's squad has to rally a win here to clinch the final seed in playoffs, and LcM will be in a similar boat if they lose their Week 7 match to risK. LcM, whose line-up consists of Steve Hisey and five ringers, will likely be playing this one to win if they show up. Expect a heated battle between dpK’s Justin Lynch and LcM’s sniper ringer that will decide the fate of mid flag. In apartments, k4b00m and Beast will be up against two ringers in a contest that I would give to dpk, but it could go either way. Elsewhere I feel dpk and LcM's ringers will be pretty well-balanced. Should be a close one.
Carlos’ pick: dpK by a cap
dpK has the second most online roster in Upper and have a losing record…what’s going on here? Regardless, they have a talented team that lost to a tough slow loris squad after two consecutive weeks of FF. I have no clue what is going on with LcM, as I think that it is equally likely they either FF, win, or lose. Hard to pick this one, but I’ll go with dpK,
Airnick’s pick: dpK by 30
Players to watch
dpK: element, k4b00m
LcM: Who the f knows?
Lower:
Match of the Week: Heavy Hitters vs.
TeamLess
Not too many interesting matches in Lower this week, but this looks like it should be. Heavy Hitters have proven to be a tough team despite being generally unknown, and should put up a good fight. TeamLess is one of the top Upper teams, and is looking to grab the top seed for the playoffs. I’m not sure if HH has enough good players to overcome TeamLess though.
Airnick’s pick: TeamLess by 100
Players to watch
HH: khoi, apple
TeamLess: lerfooled, c-tOn
Fatal Mistake vs.
Believe the Hype
We haven’t played a TPG match in a few weeks, good thing for DCN! The last two matches we did play resulted in losses though, so we need to get this train back on the tracks (See what I did there? We are playing railroad this week!) We would to get that #1 seed, and BtH is also playing for playoff positionin here. Look for skull and Odin to constantly rush each other, as I believe both have walk and sprint bound to the same key. Here is to hoping that sniping the train car will lead us to a win.
Airnick’s pick: GLHF
Players to watch
Fatal Mistake: Skull, rydN
Believe the Hype: GRIMM, Odin
To round out the rest of the lower...
