yeh, build yourself a cheapo tower, loads of guides everywhere on the net! you can build excellent towers these days for really cheap. "gaming" laptops are gonna cost soooo much more than a performance-equivalent tower, you're just paying triple the price to cram everything into a small space. plus then they'll have shitty 60hz laggy tiny screens so you'll need to use an external screen for dod anyway, defeating the portability benefit of a laptop.

if I were you I'd get a pro tower for $300-500 and a cheap reliable laptop for word processing (I bought a refurbed one for like £50 the other day)

My laptop I use for dod is quickly dying. My netbook for writing is slowly breaking. I'm looking for one of the following:

Efficient but rather cheap laptops that can handle Microsoft word without crashing and costing me an hour's work,

or!

A decent, cheap tower or laptop that can play dod and. I'll mainly be using it as a word processor but would like to play these upcoming seasons without the fear of my hard drive crashing or back light shutting off forever.

If any of you fine nerdfolk have old machines laying around, I'd be willing to agree to some terms (unless you're looking to give something away, which is always welcome.)

Advice starts here:
