cl_bob and cl_bobup prevent the player camera from moving both side to side and up and down as the player moves. I often use cl_bob 0 and cl_bobup 0 when I pub because in DoD the levels are so high that I actually find myself getting dizzy from time to time, which is why these cvars exists, because some people are very sensitive to motion sickness and can't play if the bob is set too high.
You're screen shouldn't shake violently from being at default levels, but make sure you are only doing cl_bob and cl_bobup, and not cl_bobcycle which is a totally different command.
Honestly, bob and bobup don't effect your aiming in DoD quite like they do in CS (which is why they are traditionally illegal, see below) and I think it's worth considering allowing them to be set at zero for the genetic anomalies like myself who are prone to motion sickness from shitty video games
