Yeah sounds like an overheating issue. GPUs/CPUs have built in meaesures to throttle themselves to lower clockspeeds when they become too hot.

Yeah I may have to try cleaning it, the problem is now it really never runs cool at all. I get its a Laptop and all but it usually didnt run this hot just doing regular everyday things.

The performance randomly started droping two weeks before I posted this, so there wasn't really any big updates or patches that im aware of. The arm's deal update had already happened, and it was just before bravo started. I'm not sure how good my graphics card is but it was never this bad before. Before i could constantly run (even in times of high stress) 120. Now even running it in 800x600 and everything low the most amount of fps i can while actually playing is about 70 and this is only for a short period of time before it drops to the 25-40 range. Very frustrating.

The same thing happened to me. I would run the game on max settings. It played fine at 120 fps but eventually My laptop started to overheat and would shut down. I took it in to get it cleaned out for around 15 bucks. Now I run the game on a 4:3 Aspect Ratio and all video settings on low. I also set my max FPS to 60. It runs really smooth now.

Most probable thing is that your laptop is filled with dust and that the thermal paste on the GPU is old and dried up and crustier than Tox's vagina. You can buy some electronics cleaner and thermal compound for 15 bucks at Best Buy.

Edit: Although if you're having problems now even when things are cool, something may have melted on your GPU. Fucked if I know.

FPS Issues

by Nicholson » Sun Oct 13, 2013 10:32 am

Hey guys,

I bought cs:go pretty much when it came out and I've been playing it since then on my laptop. I noticed a couple times while playing the game my laptop would overheat like crazy and once it did it to the point where it restarted itself. I used to run constant 120 fps without an issue and now it wont leave the range of 19-52 (approx.). DanJhonson and I tried a bunch of things but nothing seems to be fixing the issue. HALP PLEASE.

Thanks in advance,
Nicholson
