I'm sorry man I was genuinely apologizing. I remember you complained to me about rep problems from time to time so I figured you were actually bothered by it. I sometimes have a hard time figuring out when people are actually upset and when dey just trollin. Once again, I'm really sorry, for reals.
The old rep system was an
old script I found and hacked together to make work for us the best I could. It did have a settings page that you could tweak how rep worked, and you could edit that calculation manually in the code, but some features were unchangeable, like all moderators having the ability to see and delete +/- rep and ignore the time requirement in between reps.
A lot of our moderators became moderators just by volunteering to do stuff and then doing it. Some people were upset that Swiss and k4b00m had moderator, but I gave it to them and many others early on for helping out. That being said, when rep was implemented (and mods became unchangeable super users), we didn't really have that many major problems because it was so obvious when someone had abused the system and I could just undo it manually. When it got to the point where people had hundreds of thousands of rep points, it was really hard to tell. That being said, I don't recall Swiss or k4b00m ever going crazy with their rep powers like others did.
But in the end, we knew it was a ghetto system and it was just supposed to be a for fun thing anyway, not to be taken seriously. It became not fun (for me at least) when it became a daily thing to have like 30 emails/pms/steam messages complaining about rep, every day. I never anticipated you guys caring about it that much and that it would make you guys so upset so I eventually just stopped intervening and let it be chaotic altogether, which was also pretty fun.
Once again, I'm really sorry if that really bothered anyone (for serious). If I end up putting a rep system back in I imagine it would turn out the same way, unless I could find a much more robust system to start with.
