Still 12, like usual. Going into Air Force Combat control shortly, planning to zip right into air traffic control after. Should directly go in as a 2nd Lieutenant if I keep my act together. But you know mostly doing 12 year old shit.

Still pissed brazilian thrasher has my damn fucking handle on this shit. Playing league(manbrasucks) and hearthstone(who the fuck knows) mostly.

Went back to college and just have an internship to finish up. Spend a shit ton of time on reddit.

God I miss dod. Wish they'd come out with a DOD:GO or some shit.

Play a bit of cs;go but not a lot. Internet living in montana makes the shit too unreliable.

edit; I just realized this username is getting worse the closer I get to 30.

No shit. I got married that same day. We, however, are not having kids any time soon. :)

Anyway, since 1911's heyday I spent a few years writing embedded software for UAVs in Maryland, moved to Boston and did my Master's in CS at Tufts, moved back to PA for a few years to work at a friend's startup (during which time I lived in London for about six months over the course of two years while my fiancee was doing a rotation), got married, and now I'm an engineering manager for Yelp out in SF (living in Oakland).

What job would you go for with a civil engineering degree in the military?

Re: Where are you now?

by ward » Wed May 20, 2015 7:07 am

If you're going to get a degree in civil engineering, I wouldn't go into an infantry job. Whether you decide to do 5 years or 20 years, you will have a much harder time than most new grads getting an engineering job after the military without direct job experience. Also, any enlisted guy would tell you that they respect new officers more if they have prior enlisted experience. However, respect is ultimately based off of how you perform your job as a leader. New officers are definitely looked at closely, but if you prove your worth (just like any job in the military), you will be fine.

I hope you meant you are going for a commission in the Army instead of enlisting with that future degree. Enlisting would mean joining as a private. No point in doing so with a degree...go officer.
I plan to go for commission . I want to graduate with a degree in civil engineering.

I was told by a former Army sergeant to graduate with the degree, serve two years then lay that degree on my CO's desk.

But I plan to get commissioned as an officer. I'd like to try and be a ranger or try to be in any other spec ops
