We replaced kirk with taylor for our donner match. Considering taylor heavies and he was our 3rd rifleman, and it's donner, that was a fair trade off.

think i played against more ringers in the last draft match then ppl on the roster for the team

to get a ringer you should have to use someone of somewhat close skill and not go and get a godlike player

say you wanted to replace blackhawk, stamp etc or someone less skilled and end up getting jared, ryan or taylor, etc...

Say jules used toxinator or ryanemo, players who have already been drafted, rather than me. Is it all that different? I think it's more of an issue of using a ringer relatively equal in skill to the player they are playing for, not whether they were a drafted player or not.

I agree that people should be dedicated if they are going to sign up for these things. I wasn't certain I could be around most nights, so I didn't play last season and didn't sign up for the draft.

Re: DoD Draft #1 Teams

by acetamino » Wed Jul 20, 2011 7:07 pm

its different because you would of been a top pick. jules had dorito has his first pick, and i had jackson, but jackson couldnt show up. so it was 2 first round picks vs no 1st round picks. no excuse and no hard feelings though. I had a fun draft and tournament, but hopefully ppl can be more dedicated next time.

Re: DoD Draft #1 Teams

How is it any different using someone who was drafted vs. not? Every team tonight seems to have been using a ringer or two thus far :o

Sorry, acetamino :[

Re: DoD Draft #1 Teams

Participated as in they signed up and were drafted..

Re: DoD Draft #1 Teams

by Black Hawk » Wed Jul 20, 2011 4:46 pm

Question, So "participated" as in already played? Isn't that against TPG rules if they've already played that map, that week then it's an FF. Or is it an exception?

Re: DoD Draft #1 Teams

by toxinatoR » Wed Jul 20, 2011 4:43 pm

Some teams couldn't handle getting 6 with 10 on the roster. And others had more than enough. So its hard to tell. 10 teams would mean 2 teams get a bye in the bracket which is kinda lame. If this turns out successful maybe next time around we can have more teams with less players. I got messaged about the use of ringers and clearly stated if you need to use a ringer it should be someone who participated in the draft... That way others who may not play on their team could get a chance. Having anyone ring defeats the purpose of a draft. A group of alternates (about 10 or so people who could be used as ringers) would have been a good idea. Wish we would have done that.

yeah this pretty much ended up being upper teams just mixed up. Woulda been nice to force lower players in there too. 10 teams of 8 coulda been done.

My team is playing at 9 est, should be interesting to see (The_ vs. Austin) cableguy vs ryanemo! I'll see if I can get an HLTV posted if anyone wants to watch. We don't have a server, so we might end up borrowing one.

get over it, practicing and shit makes it a lot more fun leading up to matches, trying to learn to play with other players playstyles, and to adapt playing with other people and stuff. there isn't a single team that has an edge in terms of skill in this entire draft and it'll come down to if you've got some spare time at night, gathering up your 6 and practicing. from day 1 i said this was going to be like a gigantic 12man only more organized and spaced out, thus leaving teams time to practice together.

im honestly pretty excited to watch some HLTV matches, we're probably going to see some of the closest matches we've seen in a while composed of all pretty good players playing against each other....so why not practice? will only make it more fun and make people want to come back to play again the next draft tourny.

actually, even when teams are "balanced", a team that practices is more likely to beat a team that doesn't practice.

practicing really takes away from the general idea of a draft. lol but i guess i'm a queer
Well, the general idea of a draft is to play on a team with new people and have the teams be balanced so that the team with the most money/prestige/reputation doesn't have all the best players on it. I don't know what practice has to do with that. I don't know why you would sign up to play with a draft team if you didn't want to play DoD with people who aren't on your team...

I don't think anyone would confuse me for one of josh's friends, but I'm totally expecting to have a lot of fun playing with him on a draft team. Get with the program!
We can be friends dan, just add me on steam! This is history right here folks, Dan and I would have slit our wrist before playing with each other if this were 6 years ago! But yeh thats why this draft is interesting, I cant wait to play with another dod legend!
