if you're recording your whole demo in fraps you're wasting time and LOTS OF HD SPACE. basically you only want to record areas you want to put in a movie. When you get to that point hit your hot key in fraps to start recording. then when the clip is done hit that hot key. You can record as many clips as you want within a demo. Fraps will make each one a seperate video file too. Fraps tends to give sup-par quality, if you're looking to get better quality you'll want to use the startmovie command within the half-life console. This is a much more time-consuming process but it produces results. Here's a link on how to do it with startmovie.

I'll try to look back on this thread in case you have any questions.

Good Luck

I use HLAE to record demos...
Pretty easy, but it takes long time to record a clip(depends how many fps you record with)10sec clip ~around 1min on 180fps.

Found that tutorial a new weeks ago :)

But I suggest you ask Chris or bullgoose, they helped me with setup and my question I had :)

I believe people use virtualdub but I'm not moviemaker so you would have to ask chris or bullgoose.

I'm hoping someone here at 1911 knows why my fraps binds up 10 minutes into a demo and locks up hl.exe.
I've tryed bandicam and dxtory as well and they freeze in similar fashion.
Is this an obvious fix to you people who make these great dod movies?
Is there an easier way to convert .dem to some common video file?
