fraps isn't bad if you have a really good computer, still, startmovie is a lot better, but requires more work.

Fraps is really only good if you are lazy and want to make a quick clip. The quality you can get with fraps isn't all that bad if you know how to render it out of vegas correctly.

Thanks, I didn't know about HLAE.. and yes I will search tutorials.. I just needed the names of the programs used, I figure asking on here would be much faster and more efficient than searching how to make a quality video for a decade old game

Last I heard to use was FRAPS and that was many years ago, it also produced a crap video.

You got tons of tutorials on youtube(or why don't use google and search for tutorials?)

Rather than look through a bunch of old threads that could be outdated, I am wondering what programs are the best to capture demo's and also to edit/render the videos so they can appear in HD quality..

My guess would be Sony Vegas for the editing part, but that's all I know..

Any advice/ walkthroughs? I know people here be making those nice vids
