Another good sniper movie that I got to watch today. I think these movies have motivated me to play again in preparation for the LAN, need to minimize how hard I get rolled.

really good movie, chuck. looks like you had to dig up old demos to have enough good footage for a movie finally :p was nice to see a lot of the old,top players as opponents.

one question- why capture at 200fps to then render at 60? woulda achieved the same result by capturing at 180, as a multiple of 60.
dogfire wrote:I do have a question though. Is there any particular reason why most dod movie makers don't render their movies in any resolution above 1280x720? you're not really gaining anything by going with 1080p over 720p with this game, especially with a movie watched on a small screen, so there's not much benefit to justify the higher hdd space used while capturing or with the final product.

really good movie chuck. it's nice to see a player who has to move his xhair onto enemies to kill them instead of these shady ass ppl who seem to have every shot lined up behind a wall and only peek the spots where there is an enemy. god forbid someone has a movie clip where they happened to be looking at a wrong spot while killing 5 in a row.

I think it's due to HD space and the time it takes to render the movie. Rendering a movie in 1080p takes much longer compared to rendering it in 720p.
HD space definitely plays a part. I captured around 700GB of video data for this. Rendering time shouldn't really be a limiting factor though; these videos are not very complex. I was able to render the whole thing with two-pass encoding during the course of a single scrim. I'd be surprised if it took much longer for a 1080p video.

I think it's mostly a filesize vs. quality balance. I wanted the video to have a high enough bitrate to eliminate any pixelation or distortion but keep the final filesize small enough to stop people from bitching about it.

one of the better dod movies ive seen in awhile. The simplicity of editing and just dumpage of frags go really well together. Nothing over edited, and the songs sync up well with each talent point.

Title: Talent.

Produced: motiv

Resolution: 1280x720

Size: 621MB

FPS: Captured 200, Rendered 60

Time: 06m58s

Music:
Band of Horses - Weed Party
Metric - Synthetica

Notes:
Thanks to k4b00m, JaGGoN, dy1g for help with campaths, Cinema 4D, HLAE, making movies in general. Thanks to everyone that I don't ban from my mumble for watching previews and giving feedback. Thanks to Frank "greetz" Lawrence for having nice legs.

---

I've been in plenty of DoD/Quake movies DYING, never had one of my own. Decided to fix that finally. This is my first movie so there's no fancy stuff going on here, just some random shitty frags from over the years. Vegas/Cinema 4D/HLAE are difficult.

Hope you don't die of boredom while watching.

Second part is better, just fyi.
