Welcome, everyone, to this very special thread. And a bitter-sweet thread it is.
It’s very sad to be saying goodbye to DD-aftershock. But – at the same time – we know that he leaves us in good shape and – going now – he’s got the chance to enjoy all that hard earned LAN money. I am sure that the rest of us who frag into their eighties will have plenty of time to mull this over.
Ever since he joined us all those years ago – how many is it? 13, 14? DD-aftershockr has been a pillar in this community. Or perhaps I should say a rock – since it was he who helped build the very foundations that have made this game such a success. And who but DD-aftershock would have had the fortitude to deal with the slings and arrows that have assailed us? Not just the league issues, but all those LANS, the introduction of the client, all that forum stuff. I think we all know that it's from his utter commitment to our game and to our community. He has indeed been part of the lifeblood of this family!
This community will be a much emptier place without him, but it will be an honour to take up the baton as his successor and I promise to try and live up to his extraordinarily high standards.
Although we are saying goodbye to DD-aftershock, this will not be the last we see of him. After all he’s only retiring not dying or joining a CS:GO community. He has already agreed to join us at the next LAN and I am sure that we will be turning to him for words of wisdom. And I know you all look forward to hearing about all his day of defeat exploits when he and TonyMontana return from their boot camp in Sweden!
On a final note, DD-aftershock, I would like to wish you all the very best on behalf of all of us. We really hope you have a wonderful trip to Sweden! Good luck and let us all now raise our glasses to DD-aftershocks new life!
