tldr:

Had the same problem with my mx518, turned out to be a loose connection between the mouse and where the cord connects. You could easily open it and fix it by re-attaching the cord if that's the same problem.

I've been playing on my buddies account. I don't have the 200+ hours of 1.6 time required to get a key. Not quite sure how I feel about the game though. I don't think you need 200+ hours.
