champs league
anyone watching? predictions other than barca?
My darkhorse is FC Porto but i think this year is Real Madrid's. They usually dont go this long without winning one. I also think Napoli will surprise maybe get into the QF. Cavani is a beast!
what do you think?

Re: champs league
Hi mitch, ever heard of Inter? Yeah, they definitely have a shot.
I'm thinking the quarters will come down to Man City, AC/Inter Milan, Barca, Bayern
Really interested to see how clubs like Dortmund and Leverkusen do. I never expected to see them in a CL to begin with, but from what I have seen of them in the past few months they're doing surprisingly well, although I would have rather seen Shalka 04 in here than dortmund.
I think Man City will come out on top of the English clubs, mainly because of how furious they must be after their last second loss to Man U in the charity shield (or whateverthefuckitscalled)
Can't wait to see 020 choke like little bitches. Already drew with Lyon loLolOlOlOLLLL

Inter just lost, at home, to a crummy Turkish team last night. A.C. drew with Barcelona, 2-2. I don't think Inter has it in them this year, but they certainly have a better shot than Napoli.james- wrote:Hi mitch, ever heard of Inter? Yeah, they definitely have a shot.

I dunno, I'm not high on Man City at this exact moment. They made some phenomenal moves in off season, especially the Nasri signing, but they just barely drew with Napoli. I'm not sure Villareal won't be be the other team from Group A to progress out into the next stage to be quite honest, and Munich just cockslapped them around last night. Man City has the talent, but they don't have the experience at this level nor anything akin to the mental edge to "win" I don't think. That could change over the course of the season, but a dearth of talent has never an issue at City.
Borussia Dortmund drew with Arsenal, but the score is pretty deceiving. Dortmund just could not get the ball in the back of the net and spent almost the entire first half inside Arsenal's box with the ball. The lone Arsenal goal is what I'd call a "fluke" since it was random. Kind of disappointing in a way to be honest. Arsenal just does not look like it cares about anything in the world when I see them play, purely uninspired football.
I think my final 4 shake out as:
Real Madrid
Bayern Munich
Manchester United
And a complete toss up between Benefica, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan. If I had to put my finger on one, I'd say Benefica. They're better than what people will give them credit for, and I think a lot of teams will overlook them. I thought about giving that 4th to Chelsea, but they are another year further down the road and did not do enough to add depth to the roster for the long international and domestic seasons. It has been a fairly common gripe in the newspapers here. Chelsea will start hot but fizzle out as the season goes on.

Re: champs league
Inter are without eto'o and that means they have no force offensively. They are lucky though as Forlan will make the lineup in the next round which im sure they can scrap into.
I mean its easy to say that ManU, Barca, RM and Milan will all move towards the final 4 but it usually doesnt happen the way it should. I agree that Bayern is not what they were but if they have an easy path they can win a close game in semis.
I wont down Porto because this team is highly under rated. With Hulk and Falcao up front its tough to slow them down.
I'm a milan fan but i dont think they have the team to do it, in fact no team with Ibra will win a champs final in my opinion.
As for english sides Man City should do well and they played a really good Napoli side. Forget about Arsenal, but ManU and Chelsea should do well.

Re: champs league
Porto is actually over rated in my books, they aren't going to make it into the final 4. I can say that without any doubt.
Inter without eto isn't useless, they still have that 020 twat Sneijder, who is one of, if not the best mid fielder in the game right now. They may have lost to a vague turkish side, but this is a competition where no one can be ruled out.
Mitch, I do agree with you that City doesn't have the CL experience to win it all, but I think they have the individual talent to take it further than the other English sides (maybe except United) Arsenal has become a joke, and I don't see Chelsea doing anything special.

Your right i never new falcao left. this takes alot away from porto, they lose the dynamic dual upfront.
I think Sneijder needs to leave Inter, he doesnt fit with this new coach and i really dont think he wants to play there while inter searches/waits for the new morinho. Milan is really truely the only legit team to have a chance from italy.
I think you can give city alittle more credit aswell. They may not have a ton of CL exp. but their players have a lot of big game experience so that should not be to much of a bother.

Man City and Napoli are the same team. I really think Villareal will shock both of those 2 teams and be the other to advance along with Munich.milo wrote:Am I the only one that thinks Man City will struggle in their group?
