Massive FPS drops when nades explodes.

Everytime a nade explodes, I get massive fps drops <15. It's a real pain in the ass, especially in nade maps like lennon. It helps a little bit when I turn off cl_dynamiclights "0" though. But it doesn't fix the problem totally.
Anyone have/had similar problems?

Had cl_particlefx 0 since day one.
So it's not that neither..

Have you had this problem for a while? Have you updated your video drivers lately? maybe that is why? I'm no expert in this field, but I've heard people that have had problems with older games when they update their drivers. Or maybe you need to update your drivers?

The only time I have had this issue was when I had a bad graphcard after my 560 fried, the fps drops came when I fired a bar or when grenades blew up.
What kind of graphcard do you have?

Well, I have this one: ATI Radeon HD 4800, a decent one with drivers up-to-date. But I do think has something to do with the graphic card, maybe something in the display settings?

Just try rolling back your video card driver to an older version, new drivers can mess up older games like dod

I have an ATI Radeon HD 5700 and I have been getting the exact same problems. I started noticing minor fps loss about a year ago and now it's getting pretty unbearable. The weird thing is that I can play rather graphics intensive games like GTA4 or Skyrim on almost max settings and it will run pretty much perfectly. I tried switching around settings and rolling back my drivers but still no dice. I really don't want to have to spend money and upgrade my shit just for DoD :/

its almost like every driver update i get for my ati card makes it run dod just a tad worse every time. i get the same fps drop, i cant keep dynamic lights on.

The really unfortunate truth with a lot of AMD/ATI cards is that they just do not play well with older opengl games and for many of them there is no reasonable fix. I personally have never used an AMD/ATI card without having shitty framerates in dod/cs1.6. Nvidia cards have always played older opengl games much better, hands down.

As far as fixing your issue, you need to answer this question first:
