Little old but obvious. A new dod will happen eventually it's just waiting for new source engine/hl3. DoD still makes them money they bundle it with a new orange type box and bam new customers. Question is will they keep supporting it.
Would love to see a new dod. If they did ever do this, id hope they would go about it the same way as they did with CS:GO. Where the community, and veterans in the game could give their input and see it put to work. Otherwise we will just get another dod:s.
I would hope they would cater to the cult following the game has and not try changing it drastically. Realistically they would prolly add iron sights though...which could be good or bad. I think I would enjoy iron sights that felt like cod but still had the recoil of dod.

I think that's the trade you make though. I never really enjoyed ironsights on PC though, to me it felt like a necessity to people who couldn't aim which made it easier to use a controller rather than a keyboard and mouse. To this point I believe I enjoy DoD and CS more than any CoD or BF game released because they do not employ the ironsight. I just like the ability to quick peek and not have to press 2 buttons to have proper aim.
The game would never live up to the competitve community's expectations because we all would hope for a direct port of the features that make 1.3 so much fun. I would guess the game would be like Home Alone 3, it may have the title, but just isn't the same without Macaulay Culkin.
Wow, that was awesome to read through. If you click through to http://pastebin.com/Hm1dpcvX (a listing of all Valve's Jira groups) you'll notice several interesting ones: "Day of Defeat" "Day of Defeat Playtest" and "Day of Defeat Webmaster". The fact that these groups exist at all shows at least some interest from Valve. Hopefully this means something, if not a new game, at least a significant update. *Crosses Fingers*
