eric sears, master anti-cheat developer.
Relax, lounge around, and find out who hacks.

without an AC client taking your config right from the match while it's being played how would anyone be able to know the config being submitted was the one from the match? hlsw shows rates and idk of any other way to view other values of someone's config (i.e. illegal binds and other cvars other than rates) after the fact. trying to find a cheater without an AC client sounds like too much work for me lol. AC client makes it effortless and is more preventative if anything, at least imo.Miller` wrote:...and if we find that those configs are not following the rules the player will be suspended.
Sears wrote:As frustrating as these retarded conspiracy theories are getting, you guys should know by now that I don't like to talk about these kind of things until I have all of the details worked out and can make some kind of official announcement.
So unfortunately, you're all going to have to wait.
Also, NEGGED.

A client's a fucking client. If you're really worried about what a program is doing, HERE YOU GO:lerfooled wrote:esl has an anti-cheat client which is probably decent and already widely used. the lan, as far as i know is partnered with esl. i'd assume that since there will be a re-launch of the 1911 site, there could also be a new online league under esl. tbh, i wasn't willing to use cleandod but would be willing to use the esl one. giving access to my computer to some guy i know nothing of in brazil doesn't really interest me. however, i would be more than willing to use and even pay to use the esl one, even if i'm playing like 1 match a season like i have been. I think cleandod could have potentially killed the community and am thankful that experiment is over.

I wasn't claiming anything. A closer inspection of what i actually wrote will provide you with the details of my personal decision to not use the client.ward wrote:A client's a fucking client. frankly, lerf, i was baffled after reading your thoughts. seemed very strict and biased tbh. i remember that in 2010 you pm'd questions about CleanDoD and by that time the anti cheat was down. also, saying that the client would kill the community is something really shitty to say. we all play DoD, be it once in a season or not, to have fun. unfortunatelly this very community has too many nerds trying to bypass rules they all accept to comply if they want to play in TPG. the decision of adopting CleanDoD came after severe meetings, tests, community pool and everything pointed towards its usage. i don't want to enter in the merit of your prejudiced comment towards my country because its just a coincidence that anti cheat is from down here but before going into such analysis you should have investigated a little bit further, especially if you're not that active (as you said so). peace.lerfooled wrote:I wasn't claiming anything. lerfooled wrote:I just think adding another barrier to playing in tpg is a problem. it is probably fairly rare to get new people playing this game. add on top of that a program that from what i remember is fairly unintuitive and creates a myriad of issues depending on the users computer, isn't logical. now, the reason i believe esl would work is because you have to pay to use it. kind of like esea, people who want an anti-cheat program are opting into it by choice.
I am sorry Cass, i apologize for slighting Brazil and i didn't mean to convey that people from that country lack integrity. however, i'm not familiar with laws there and personally would not be willing to use it. I have always wanted to travel there and eventually will.
i think i'm lashing out because of the frustration i have when i look at the current direction of the community as a whole. there seems to be a power struggle going on now. I personally am worried that any wrong step will actually be the end of this community and have decided to not play dod. there is the excitement of a new lan and some other goodies coming, i just think that the man in charge is acting foolishly right now and don't want anything to do with it.
i also can't figure out how to delete my account through the control panel.
Only the endless quest for ultimate supremacy over the internets.Yaso wrote:lerfooled wrote:i think i'm lashing out because of the frustration i have when i look at the current direction of the community as a whole. there seems to be a power struggle going on now.

I feel like his bigger concern is that, while the program may not necessarily be harvesting personal information currently, it might be able to be used that way in the future. Not everyone is programming savvy enough to know what is and what is not possible with these types of things, including me.ward wrote:The percentage of people who had problems with it and didn't ask us to help them fix it (like what was mentioned in the TPG news post) is small. The whole point of it is to enforce rules that we have in place. I can't for the life of me think of any reason to NOT use it. I did read your post, and you implied that someone could be harvesting data from your computer etc. This just isn't happening, and if you used a program like I posted, you would know.

And cass, I more got the impression that lerfooled was more concerned about the fact that someone with a potential backdoor into his computer is from another country, not just because he is from Brazil. Makes legal recourse very difficult. I don't really know lerfooled personally, but I've seen his posts and community interactions since like 2004 or 05, and I have never got any impression from him other than that he seems like a level headed guy, so I'm sure he wasn't ripping on Brazilians in general. He leaves that to me. Now go back to your tiki hut, eat a banana, and yell at your sister-wife in spanish for wearing too large of a bikini.

Hey awesome for you, ward, you posted a process monitoring tool for everyone to use that lets you know after someone has stolen all your shit that they stole all your shit. I also love the fact that about 95% of users would not be able to decipher wtf 95% of this means:
More data captured for operation input and output parameters
Non-destructive filters allow you to set filters without losing data
Capture of thread stacks for each operation make it possible in many cases to identify the root cause of an operation
Reliable capture of process details, including image path, command line, user and session ID
Configurable and moveable columns for any event property
Filters can be set for any data field, including fields not configured as columns
Advanced logging architecture scales to tens of millions of captured events and gigabytes of log data
Process tree tool shows relationship of all processes referenced in a trace
Native log format preserves all data for loading in a different Process Monitor instance
Process tooltip for easy viewing of process image information
Detail tooltip allows convenient access to formatted data that doesn't fit in the column
Cancellable search
Boot time logging of all operations
and yet you wanted them to use it to make sure they weren't getting F'ed in the A on Sunday(s).
I'm pretty footloose and fancy free with my "'bout to get fucked" protection, tbh, so I installed and used the client without hesitation; but others aren't as stupid as me in their ignorance.
Either way, thanks for the heads up, bromontana!
