lol? I think I do just fine in 12 mans and matches(Usually in top 3 for frags). And plz dont compare me to hellfire. I didnt call this kid out, nor have I ever called anyone out so your statment is just stupid. If someone post demos and starts a thread about it then I will give my personal opinion on what I think. You can make fun of me for being "old" but atleast the effort I put in this game actually won me something besides a tpg online cheater title. What are you 17 living at home in your parents basement? Like I said, I dont know poizined I have nothing against him at all. Im sure he is a great guy but this is my opinion.

who are you talking about being "old school players"? i don't see anyone itt besides josh, and he wasn't calling anyone out... he just said the demo looks like he was cheating.
get a clue, btw. you're bad. legitimately fucking awful at the game. don't know if i've ever played against you, but i'm pretty sure that if i did, you lost. there's been like one good team to play since the real competition died and i'm pretty sure you weren't on it.

Three things:
1.
juliowinnfredo wrote: I had personal experience cheating on pubs so I know what cheating behaviors are.
Why does that make you a good AC? If you cheat in a pub and make a mistake, you have the risk of some kid calling you out which will amount to either a. nothing or b. you'll get banned from a pub. Cheating in a match would require much more will not just shoot at everything, peek everybody, etc. I don't see how that correlates is all.
2.
juliowinnfredo wrote:RWC's real problem though are his perceptions of players. Every day he's "blown away" and "in awe" of some new player he just got a demo of (who is in fact fairly mediocre). He'll also post on 1911 making public statements about how fishy a disputed demo is before he even watches it.
As far as I know (from conversations with people and reading this forum), you have been "caught" cheating countless times and been cleared every single time. I have heard people say that the AC's think you were cheating in some 12man or scrim. I have heard many a player tell tales of you blatantly cheating. And yet here we are, still able to play in TPG. If the AC's are banning on reputation alone, shouldn't you have been banned a while ago? Note, this is in no way bashing you or accusing you, just some simple reasoning.
And finally,
juliowinnfredo wrote:The only really fishy parts of poizoned's demos are when he's capping wells and is able to crouch walk around the barrels at wells to keep himself perfectly hidden from 99 players peeking from underpass.

no. he's been finding cheaters in dod since you were in grade school. you ARE kids to him. you have a few years of playing the game in leagues... he's been administrating and playing in leagues for over a decade. he's seen a lot of shit. he's banned and NOT BANNED a lot of cheaters. he's certainly brought to the community 100x what you or anyone playing the game now has. not because he was a selfish, egotistical prick... but because he likes helping everyone around him enjoy the game.

shortcut if you don't want to read the wall of text:
don't think poizoned was cheating, beast always cheats, only fishy thing was him crouching on stairs at his axis first.
honestly i can't believe i'm going to say this but i think the only person cheating in this demo was beast. the only fishy thing i really saw was the crouching on the stairs for 0 reason...if you slow it down to 1/4 speed though he doesn't pre-aim the kid at all or anything. just a flick shot....just don't really know why he was crouching there considering dpk's reason behind him doing that was he was looking for eddie, who just got a kill 5 seconds prior to him even getting to the steps.
as for the connector spams, that's just how people play now adays. if you think he's cheating because of that, then i guess rusty was cheating his entire dod career because he hit the craziest spam spots all the time, and was always dead on. also guess that means i cheat because pretty common spam spots like that i shoot at whenever i hear a noise. i realize the cheats you can get now adays are apparently amazing from what people have told me [

] but if you just look at his playstyle, the kid legit plays like a retard. some people have said his quick switch is his toggle button but throughout the demo i watched him quick switching constantly and just straight up running into people. there were a lot of shots that if he were cheating he would have killed people and had a justified reason to have killed them (ie: guys in connector/blue room/lower red)
and i realize everyone has their own opinion so i'm not posting this to try and get a rise out of josh or anyone saying otherwise, just my opinion as a player who used to cheat all the time back in the day(actually 80% of the reason why i ever got good as funny as that sounds) and has played on the top team for years now online and on LAN. and if the only thing you have in response to that is "yeah you were on the top team when DoD was dead LolLZzOLllLolZ", i played against plenty old school upper tier invite players online AND on LAN after they were well greased up again in the DoD world and playing very well and was still on a top 3 team starting back into my aPro days.

You would think that two years (and he was good at that time) would allow you to continue to improve upon your skill... I always find it ironic when people calls cheats on players like poizoned, greetz, and element when they have been playing for such a long time. It is as if that mentality of when they just started becoming good and the more established players cannot accept it, but carried on for years...
length of time playing dod doesn't determine whether cheats or doesn't cheat. couldn't that mean he has had "such a long time" to learn how to hide it better and not get caught?
i haven't watched the demo, nor will i watch the demo. it just always seems funny to me that certain types of players are always associated with other fishy players, and they all look strange when they play, and they do strange things, and for years they always get accused. there are players that have been around for so long that NEVER get accused or disputed no matter how well they play, and there are players that are always getting disputed and always getting accused. and the suspicious ones always seem to be butt buddies and end up on the same teams together for years and all stick up for each other. that is obviously not a reason for a ban, but i refuse to believe that it is just coincidence that it happens like that so much. and i played cal-p and cal-i CS for years before touching dod, and it happens the same way in the CS world as well.
there are players like austizzle, or taylor, (just off the top of my head) who got so good so quick, that they were catching some accusations. some coming from me, especially about austin. but once you watch them, everything looks natural with their gun firing, and you can just tell they are playing smart and making informed decisions based on sound, death notices, and good communication from teamates. theres nothing i see from them that is unexplainable, and theres nothing they do that i would not have done or been able to do myself. then there are players like poizoned, or ceebz, (just off the top of my head) who have odd looking recoil, do things on a regular basis that make you think "huh?", and just play in a strange manner. i cant describe what it is, but the phrase "i just cant put my finger on it" comes to mind. there is just something odd about them.
sort of just rambling at this point.

1. I never said pub cheating was the one thing that made me a good AC. I think it contributed to it. I think it had its benefits. Oh and Mr. "Let me bring my Statistics 101 terminology to the argument here," correlation is not causation.
2. Just because I've been cleared in situations (of which you obviously don't have any real knowledge beyond hearsay) that means it's impossible for admins to not be influenced by reputation in other situations? Your argument isn't logically coherent here.
3. In the heat of battle, one thing may become many.

How is this turning into another "Let's accuse Rob of cheating" thread? Stealth's argument was that despite my reputation I've been cleared in the past, which precludes the ACs from being influenced by reputation. Then you come in, Joey, and say "YEAH I'VE HEARD YOU CHEAT AND I DON'T LIKE IT!"
You need a lesson in reading comprehension Joey. Sadly, working at Vitamin Shoppe won't provide that.

and thirdly, i have been apart of CAL-ac for CS years ago, and i can tell you that AC admins build cases over time. you don't need a "smoking gun" type of shot or totally unexplainable situation all the time rob. certain players are disputed time and time again, and there sometimes is never that smoking gun. but over time, an admin can build a case and eventually have enough evidence that will all add up to a ban, but not actually have that 100% blatant smoking gun. thats how CAL AC for Cs worked back in the day at least.
Re: Poizoned Down.
Posted: Fri Jul 01, 2011 1:24 pm
by Rob
That's a terrible way for AC to operate. You judge the demo you're sent. You don't "build up a case" based on rumors and reputation over time. You get a demo, review it, and you clear or ban. Each dispute should be reviewed alone and independently. If you take a legit player's demos over a whole year you can piece together probably 50 instances of things that look fishy and call that a case. And I didn't say the "smoking gun" piece of evidence isn't the only requirement. I'm saying a case is built based on multiple occurrences in a demo of things that don't look legit, OR a case is built on something that is blatant and without question cheating, like the video Alex made of Dustin Young on rr2 a few weeks ago.
And regarding whether or not a bunch of people on a video game forum like me, I couldn't care less. But at least I'm honest. I don't hang out on vent with them acting all friendly only to repeatedly and publicly throw them under the bus at every given opportunity. You've not only done that to me on numerous occasions, but other people on the team as well.

It's called being aware of your surroundings. And you're not. Hence, clueless.
Schmiggs wasn't an "AC admin," he ran the entire fucking show for years. He has a lot of experience dealing with every type of person that played the game. You're accusing him of being biased because he thinks he's the shit and no new players could be better than him, when I don't think that's EVER been the case. I never got banned for cheating and he was head admin for awhile when I went from being a nobody in cal-o to being on a team of fake mexicans that like 50%+ of the community thought was a bunch of cheaters. 2/3 of our team would get disputed every match and no one got banned until they actually DID cheat like 5 months later when everyone knew who was on the team and thought they were good. It's funny how good players that get accused of cheating don't arouse suspicion in admins. They just play smart and hit good shots.
There are always going to be exceptions... but you just have to live with the idea that this guy cheated and got banned. You guys haven't revolutionized the game since I stopped playing. The "crazy" shit that gets you kills now doesn't work against good teams. There was a reason wall shots were so rare at a high level... it's because it's really fucking stupid to do against good players/teams because it's easier to hit people when you can see them and shooting at a wall gives away your position and let's someone peek you with a much higher chance of killing you. It wasn't because we were all bad and never realized you could shoot people through walls if you spammed them.

You're wrong. A legit player's demos will overwhelmingly prove their legitimacy if you watch enough of them. Humans are creatures of habit. In a game based on reaction, they act on instinct and routine. There will ALWAYS be a reason that a player (legit or not) does each thing they do in the game, even if they themselves don't realize why they're doing it. True, there are moments of "intuition" in a game where for no apparent reason you shoot a wall or realize someone is somewhere without any clue to suspect it. I think that happened like 3-5 times in all of the matches I ever played in any game. That's not 50 times in a year. Even in those cases, there's almost certainly some clue that you didn't realize at the time, but your subconscious did.
The best way to catch a cheater is to watch a LOT of demos and recognize why they do the things they do. Most often, actions coincide with information they have available to them (or might possibly have available to them through vent, etc). Cheaters will act on "unknown" information at a much higher rate than legit players. This is how you catch habitual cheaters, because they're not DUMB ENOUGH TO STARE THROUGH WALLS. Sure you catch the guy who is trying out a wallhack for the first time... but someone who actually wants to convince you that he's amazing? He's going to practice cheating and figure out how to cover his tracks pretty well. You can only really catch them by watching enough demos to understand his playstyle and determine why he's reacting the way he is. If his reactions are to unknown information, he's cheating. That's it. There's no reason that investigating multiple demos is based on "rumors and reputation."
Human behavior is a science.

dan, both of your last 2 posts are so spot on it is ridiculous. thanks for not only putting a lot of my thoughts into writing much better than i could have, but giving insight to your own intelligence about the game. you went to law school, didnt you? i definitely felt like i was reading a lawyers rebuttal or cross examination ahah. and a great point about the wall shooting vs top teams. back in 05/06, all of the top teams hardly ever did that. now, since all there are is 12mans all day and then showing up for matches, hardly anyone has much experience playing against a group of 6 guys that play together regularly, have skill, are smart, and take the game seriously enough to try. even the very average of cal-m teams from 2005-2006 who practiced would show up here and own everyone, and be right up there with thunder. and the wall spamming/pre-firing style of play that has been infused to everyone's game in the past 2 years would be more of an advantage to the 05-06 main team, for the reasons that dan mentioned.

edit: also, we get it. the games dying, just like it has been for the past like 5 years, no need to say it as much as possible. all that does is discourage people from playing again or continue playing, and we all know a lot of us still have fun playing the game and would have a lot more if it got more competitive again. point being, shut up about the game dying already, that's all i've read for years now and it's still around. quit discouraging people and play and have fun.

Seriously, rob's hypocritical pompous behavior disgusts me in a way that it made me remind politicians rhetoric on creating endless excuses for their foul acts. This guy was cheating beyond doubt and although we have some people who seem to be just inexperienced on seeing demos or oldies proving through A + B that this guy was cheating we still have him trying to convince us all that though he cheats his balls of in 12mans/scrims/pubs (specially against SA people) he is a pretty good AC by criticizing the ones who currently are in charge of review disputes and are in fact cleaning real shitheads from this dying game.

im not sure exactly what spam spots people are referring to since i didnt watch the demo, but that spam spot is pretty basic and it was done back in the day also. although not as much imo. but i know that if you are undetected in the lower tree as allies, and you hear an axis guy running through connector, it's not a great idea to just give away your position by starting to spam at him because it's not really a high percentage spam. and you can just make the call to your teamates who are going to be pouring out of the spawn ramp in 2 seconds and can seriously see him pretty much as they come off the ramp. so why not just keep your status in lower tree unknown?? if you had just fought guys from lower tree door or have been camping there for 4 minutes and they're bitching how they cant get you out of lower tree, then i'd be much more willing to go for spams like that. but these days it seems like just because you hear a pin drop somewhere it's a great idea to start spamming walls.

yeah i 100% agree joey, but in these demos poizoned was already stomping around lower red and people from apps can even hear that shit lol, he just runs back to the spam spot and starts shooting. that or he was in a position where it honestly wouldn't have made a difference if he was detected or not because axis already had well and the rest of the well team was down pretty much, just the one guy in connector pushing for the first
and i can see what you mean sears about thinking he was, i thought it early on as well. i was just mainly basing a lot of it on my experiences of cheating back in the day and what i would do to try and hide it and whatnot to be honest.

yea and i always find it funny that its always the same people draining my ball sacks out.
theres no reason to defend myself since you guys have your minds set that i cheat and i apologize to dpk that this happen again. im not fustrated at all about the banned but i'll be a lier if i said i didn't care a little about the banned since i personally know i don't cheat as well as my teammates, but theres no one way i can prove that especially since the odds are against me.
and yo it's the 4th of july weekened why do you guys care so much about me when you should be having a blast with family and friends drinking and partying.
i'll check this thread out on tuesday but on the mean time be safe virgins, peace!

Well without getting any more into Theory of ACing, I'm going to exit the thread stating I don't have any clue how people are 100% certain this is cheats. I can understand suspicion, but not absolute certainty. This isn't a dustin young demo. If a demo of any number of top players now (tox, jaggon, ryanemo, austin, taylor, etc.) was sent in, WITHOUT their name on it, they would probably get banned according to this standard. Any demo of those guys playing that route on lennon will show tons of attempted wall shots, I promise you that.

uh, any demo taken of my brother will have attempted wall shots in it. and attempted flying no scopes. from halfway across the map. while prone. through a wall. then a 1 deag.

We arent all 30 taylor, im about to turn 26 in september so its not like im a whole hell of alot older then alot of you guys, I just started at a young age. Thats cool ryan I respect your opinion, however I just feel diffrent from what I saw. Is it full out blatent? no... but is it very fishy and some bullshit at times? yes...
once again, i'm not talking about you.. scorch is telling me how i was a child back when schmiggs was a ac admin.. i'm just saying that it isn't my fault that i was 10 years old when dod was released.. sorry i'm not 30 bro.
I love you dan.

My three highlights of the day!
1. Kevin saying the word correlates means OMG CHECK OUT MY SWEET UNI CLASSES YO
2. Building up cases for AC is stupid and should be replaced by IS THIS MATCH BLATANT NO? WELL THEN FUCK IT NEVER BAN
3. Poizoned is legit even though when CAL was still around everyone said he was the most blatant cheater ever. Oh, and let's not forget there was a LAN in his backyard or something when he was still considered super blatant and he was all FUCK THAT

Disclaimer: This hardly affects me, I didn't play this match and I have no interest in playing this next one where I will undoubtedly get my shit stomped by players that I heard are amazing.

Why do people expect dpk members to play smart? All we do is run around and frag. That's why we don't win matches or when we do it gets overturned. Just lock this thread already.

he never said he didn't care about getting banned....
why wouldn't he care? this is the 2nd time dpk has had a playoff match overturned. it's a little bit frustrating for all of us.
