Lol that gif might be the most concise yet totally encompassing description of M83 I've ever seen. I'd post a youtube link to "Steve McQueen" if I could, it's such an incredible song, but the fucking label is already taking them down.
Anyway, the new album is Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. Just figured I'd get the word out; felt obligated to share it with people.

Although I understand the opinion, I don't look at the slow, quiet interludes as filler tracks so much as valleys that make the peaks what they are.
Also, while the big tracks are real cathartic moments, M83 has always been a product of 80s teenage movie culture (most explicitly in the two latest albums), and moments of victory for are, without exception, preceded by scenes of quiet reflection, with the protagonists slinking into the dark, alone, without anyone to understand them and sympathize, with their thoughts building up to moments of self-realization, epiphany. M83's music literally, on a scene by scene basis, mirrors the thematic timelines of 80s movies.
Anyway, I'm obviously really bored right now, sorry.

This.
Still an amazing album. Kind of brings me back up from DJ Shadow's newest release (which I really found disappointing). It's nice to know I can always count on M83.
