ESEA and DOD

Hi boys! I spoke with an ESEA admin and suggested that they add dod to their list of games they offer. He said it would take about 250+ signatures on a petition before they would consider adding it at all. I dont really see that happening, but i thought id throw it out there. Scriming/pugging/12manning on client, what a scary thought for most of you~

I'd sign a petition even if it is a long shot.

Unfortunately, no way in hell this would happen.

TF2 is barely surviving in ESEA right now.

I think it would serve the remaining DoD community well to focus on pulling off another TPG season, and work towards possibly hosting one last lan, than to put our limited resources into trying to convince ESEA to host a 10 ish team league.

However, there is a possibility that 1911 might be hosting some donate-to-play tournaments after the new year (with small cash payouts), so keep an eye out for news on that front.

we tried to be a part of ESL and despite all efforts things didn't progressed as we expected

Like Sears said I'd rather focus our efforts in the upcoming TPG/lan event/1911 events

ESEA would be great if it were to be 100% free. No premium and no league fees.

But they wouldn't do that and I don't blame them. Hell you need premium to post on their forums.

I honestly don't see this as being a good idea.

Blah, it's like $7 a month, and I'm sure a bunch of people already have ESEA for CS 1.6/source. Lamers, I would be down for ESEA DoD ;(

It's just going to be a let down anyway.

I think it could bring another team or so into the scene for us but what we gain in CS, CS:S, and TF2 players we lose in lower and SA teams. That's my guess though.

Whatever, cool thought though. Maybe if we get another 5 teams into the community.

ESL also fucked us around hardcore, big reason why that faded out.

They've been having problems with teams dying and not making it through the season. 1/3 of invite died last season before the end, so they were threatening to drop it.

ESEA is a pretty corrupt ish organization, lots of favoritism and power hungry admin drama a lot of the time. At least that's what I've seen as an outside observer.

im not saying have them start a league, id just like to have it as an option to 12man/pug/scrim on. but like i said i doubt we would even get close to enough signatures, it was just a thought i had :P

well i know a lot of cs players that want to play dod but dont know how to find a scrim or get into 12mans so im pretty sure if esea does somehow pick up dod it would help the game out a bit.

cs players have been saying that since dod was big, they have no real interest usually. i tried to get a ton of people to play dod, they would scrim one time and never touch it again.

I consider the fact that CPL recognized DoD at their tournaments as it being "big." Just because CS was way more popular does not change that fact.

there were more people who played DoD competitively than Quake and Painkiller. The only difference is DoD is a 6v6 game where Quake and Painkiller were mostly 1v1 games.

ESEA could work if they offered DoD for free, otherwise I think we would lose a lot of interest.
