Got hooked on this show. Have watched the first two seasons in about a week, and am on the third now.

Anyone else watch it?

First two episodes of Mad Men are really slow. Once you get past those two and start learning more about the characters and their story, it's amazing.

Seriously. I still have season 3 and 4 to go and I already can't wait for season 5.

I tried watching Mad Men, got through episode 1 and got bored in episode 2 and shut it off. If you're saying it gets better, maybe i'll try it again. I just hadn't known enough about the show, or known anyone who had watched it before to tell me it gets better I guess.

Walking Dead is really good if you're into Zombie movies/shows/books.
A Game of Thrones is also a really well done show, if you've haven't seen that.

mad man and breaking bad are under shows i need to download.

Just waiting for football to end and then ill have my sundays back for tv shows.

Mad Men on Netflix is the way to go. AMC doesn't come in HD (or hasn't) on DirecTV and watching them back-to-back is a great way to follow the nuances of the show.

A Game of Thrones is also a really well done show, if you've haven't seen that.

First two episodes are slow as hell. It's too soon to really establish the characters. After those episodes, you get invested in the characters and their stories. It's a drama, of course, so there are no loud explosions or drug deals going on to keep you entertained; it's all about the characters. I'm hooked, all I can say!

Walking Dead is one I'll definitely be looking into. I've also heard a lot about Boardwalk Empire. Anyone watch this?

Homeland is good.
I just finished watching the 1st season of "Life" I found it to be pretty interesting, but the show was canceled after the second season. Same thing happened with the show Flashforward. I was caught up in the show, watched the first season in a week, and then i found out it was canceled.


I just downloaded 22 seasons of the Simpsons, and am currently nerding out on that, and the final season of Boston Legal.

My current tv shows are Game of Thrones, Homeland, and Walking Dead. Thanks to Netflix I am getting start on Lost, and will watch Sons of Anarchy after. I guess Mad Men will have to go on the list.

My roommate watches on netflix religiously, alex.

I enjoy Parks and Rec, Walking Dead (for cinematography [small budget]), Increasingly poor decisions of Todd Margaret, and my guilty pleasures are Gold Rush and Alaska State Troopers :/.

i went completely no life on weekend and watched seasons 3 and 4 of Sons of Anarchy. good stuff.

havent kept up on Walking Dead, need to catch up.

other than that i dont watch many TV shows, i read manga like a real nerd.

Let's see...

- Been pushing Mad Men back for months now, not sure how I haven't watched it.
- Watched one episode of Breaking Bad and it was so different that I never watched episode 2.
- The Walking Dead is a must, even if you're not crazy about zombies. The characters and the suspense is enough reason.
- I saw commercials for Homeland while watching Dexter and it looked really interesting.
- I've heard that Game of Thrones becomes much better if you've read the books. Apparently they skip over a hell of a lot.
- People should take notice of Jared's Parks & Rec gifs. If you don't watch the show, do it. It's outstanding (along with the majority of NBC's shows).

only thing ive been watching over the past few months is mad men and breaking bad. both are awesome. ive heard about walking dead being really good but now i know i have to get into this. i doubt with school im going to make much ground though....

The Sparticus series on Starz is the only show I've ever watched in a dedicated fashion. I've never been hooked on a series like this one. I don't understand why they never made a modern day Sparticus movie. The whole Sparticus story is truly inspirational.

Season 1 is 6 episodes.
Season 2 is at episode 7 and doesn't start again until feb 12th.

It isn't a hard show to catch up on, and its totally worth it.

Yeah I've seen every episode probably multiple times(Sparticus that is) haha. The new season starts on Jan. 27th at 10pm EST. One more week! =D I'll have to check out Game of Thrones.

You do know they didn't figure it out and he died right? I mean, I'm not even a fan of the show and I knew that.

Heh, you're right. I was going off what someone else had told me awhile back. I never actually looked into it myself, just knew the start date. Shame on me. Season 3 should still be quite epic.

First two seasons of Mad Men are solid. As with any tv show nowadays, after a few seasons the plot ideas become more and more ridiculous. I am not sure when season five is coming out, but Matthew Weiner, the show's producer fought vigorously against cutting two minutes out of the show for additional commercials. There was also discussions about cutting staff pay, so cast negotiations have been a contributing factor to the delay.

The show is a bit slow for me, especially since I watched it at the same time as watching Breaking Bad.... I'll get back into it again when I have time.

I watched the first 3 seasons then i started drinking whiskey at work, fucking my secretary, and generally becoming a massive douche bag. It's kind of like when I started watching dance moms... except without the excessive masturbation to little girls.

I'm sorry, Alex, but I don't know if I can watch the show. I got 3 episodes in and I'm just not feeling it. I have talked to people who love it that say if you don't like the first episode, you might not like the show because it's basically the same thing.

Those people are dumb...........

It's a drama. It's all about building the characters. As the seasons progress you get much more insight into the characters and their histories.

But I realize it's not for everyone!

Watched the first season of Homeland this past week / weekend. Was excited for it, but it severely let me down.

The acting for many of the characters felt funny. Plot became ridiculous at a very fast pace imo. I found myself fighting the urge to skip through scenes I felt were filler as well.

Shows that go much longer than 5 seasons become stale. Mad Men seasons 1-2 are really good, but you can see the trending in season 3 to more... "creative" topics that aren't really that interesting. Same thing happened to The Wire, seasons 1-3 are on a different tier, but season 4 isn't quite the same, and season 5 is just average at best.

Just finished season 3. Still loving the show, so...

Starting Boardwalk Empire, too.

Yeah, I get what you're saying, I just think that stuff didn't bother me so much given the performances of Patinkin, Danes, and Lewis. The only character I don't like is his wife (the whore from firefly), I find her acting totally unbelievable and forced.

Yes, I agree with the characters you listed, and your analysis of the wife as well. Along with her I didn't like the son, but I felt the daughter was hit or miss on some lines.

One aspect that confused me was everyone calling him Brodie, as well as Sgt. Brodie. I should just look into it, but it always tripped me up that his last name is his nickname as well, or is this actually his first name?
I also got annoyed with the constant need to look good at the CIA, and job protection and security. I think that is just me being frustrated with government in general, but I couldn't let it go while watching this. (This is the same reason I skip scenes in Dexter where Laguareda(sp?) enters the frame).

I didn't know about the plot complications, but all the twists hurt the show for me. I wish it would of been 1 or 2 seasons max with a basic plot that was more focused on the thriller aspects, instead of these fantasy attacks.

It is true though, that some episodes are a lot stronger than others. I will probably only watch once it concludes so I skip over scenes that don't interest me.

I really disliked the daughter. I don't know if it was something in her acting or just her intrusiveness that continuously bugged me. The wife, too.

If I didn't hate fast forwarding through shows, I would do the same. I hate that woman, haha.

I watched through the entire show thinking there was only that one season. After the season finale, I was really confused. Then someone explained it to me and I just said, "Ohhhhhh. Bummer." I was expecting a huge finale, not what actually happened.

Edit - Forgot to answer the only question I sought to when I hit reply. His name was Nicholas Brodie. Everybody just called him Brodie as a nickname. Even his wife, which I felt was really odd and just seemed off. It would be like your friends calling you Candib (if that's how you spell your last name) instead of Jared. Or plooooooooof.
