Pirlo is still bad ass. People can hate on him cuz of his age, but he still has some years left IMO.

the mix of young and old players on italys team right now seems to work pretty well, even though they need to win to get to the quarter finals at somepoint, 3 squares would be horrobile and ireland is always good to just let soemthign like this happen espacialy since trapatoni is a trainer who always goes for the 0 against his team and let them play very defensive.

Pirlo is a quality playmaker who quite a few people say they would take in their team over Xavi.
Personally I think that's taking it a little too far, but he's still one of the best in the world in his position. He can ping a pass beautifully, has superb vision and can execute perfect free-kicks as seen in the GIF.

Yeah. I think if he had the ability to take on defenders you could put him in league with xavi/iniesta, but he's in their class when it comes to passing and his set pieces are world-class for sure, I can't think of anyone else as good as him right now at that.

Looks like Hodgson's either starting to get his tactics right (yeah, right...), or that win was pure blind luck.
In any case I'm happy with the win, but we need to get that defence sorted out as soon as possible. We'll be found out against the likes of Spain or Germany - just as we were in WC2010.

England through, topping the group with France in second. First time we've done this in the Euros since '96.
Italy next. Those Italians will play us at our own game, though - counter-attack.

It's so awesome when England fans get hope. I can't think of anything more enjoyable than watching them lose when their fans think they might actually have a chance to win.

Hahaha, right! When was the last time England won anything of note... '66?
We're not winning this one, not even banter can justify me saying that this tournament's ours. We'll be lucky to get by Italy.
milo wrote:Fernando Torres is still a cunt.
Agreed, a terrible cunt at that.

Meh, nobody I know thinks we're going to win anything here. Hodgson is a terrible manager who plays defensive, small-team tactics with big-name players.
Under him we've done well enough to actually make it out of the group stages.

Pirlo just did a Schweinsteiger to Schweinsteiger.
Dominated that midfield. Metronome. Legend. World-class.
Milan were fucking mental to get rid of him.
