DoD loading problem

I've looked all over the depths of the internet for a solution, but I can't find one. Whenever I'm trying to connect to a server, my game will freeze at Executing connection to server or whatever it says, something like that. It will normally load the first 3 yellow bars and then just freeze, and I normally have to end my game by ending hl.exe. The same thing happens with CS 1.6 as well, but I can play source games just fine. It will randomly work sometimes, but not very often. I hadn't played for a few months until earlier this week, and when I first got on, it was working fine, a day or two later, I was having this error and I still am. If anyone has a solution or has had this problem before, help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! Have you tryed to uninstall everything + steam and install it all over again!? Probbly this will fix any error that you might have! Note: Delete the folder of steam too, and then do it all over again...or you can just verify integrity of game cache + defragment cache files on properties of any game! Try that 1st before you uninstall, and then if it doesn't work...just uninstall and that will fix it!

Give us a little info on your pc.
Also try deleting your clientregistry.blob in your steam folder.

save your config if you have changed it manualy, uninstall steam, clean your registrey, restart and install it again, that did it for me but there is some file were you can manualy put in a number for some games think dod was 13 or so, but cant remember that stuff anymore, maybe someone else does (this may also solves the problem).

sounds like the game is doing one of two things:
1. stalling during a stage of connecting to the server
2. stalling trying to load resources from your local machine
You can download process monitor (
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96645.aspx) and get a capture while trying to connect to a server and see what hl.exe is accessing when that happens. If you need help interpreting what it says, save the logfile in .PML format and upload it to filefront and post the link here and I'll take a look.

I'm currently trying to just reinstall steam and start fresh. If that doesn't work, it may be time for an hero. I will be ordering another computer soon, but that wouldn't come until around July, and I don't feel like waiting.
