apparently dude was a PhD candidate before dropping out in recent months. so guy was neither uneducated nor economically destitute. Chemical imbalances, unquelled and amplified indignation, lack of love... At least I'd have to assume it's some admixture of such 'ailments'

Yeah it's fucked up. Surprised he didn't kill himself afterwards. That's what everyone seems to do. He should have killed himself before taking the lives of innocents

people should want to know what their homes were like, and what their favorite movies were before this tragic event. They should want to know what they studied in school, where they worked, where they traveled \, or what they loved to talk about.

honestly i dont care about any of it. i want to know why a guy decided to go batshit insane, so if its feasible something can be done to help prevent this from happening again(not knee jerk legislature banning something). the people that are dead, are just that - dead. we cant help them, and focusing on them does nothing to move past the issue in a way thats decent. let the families and friends do the remembering, the rest of us should work towards keeping this from being repeated.

Not sure if Colorado has concealed carry, and if so guns are probably not allowed in movie theaters. But 1 or 2 well trained citizens possibly could have stopped him before he did so much damage. Then again they could have been arrested afterwards for taking their gun into the theater.

Yes I realize he was wearing full body armor and my idea might have been a massive fail unless they shot him in the face. I don't believe the gas mask had tactical armor capabilities. As stated earlier identifying these animals ahead of time would be the best move, but that will also prove to be difficult to do.

you didn't know or care about them while they were alive, i don't see much sense in caring about them in death.

Reminds me of, "His name is Robert Paulson."
I don't think it's necessary to learn about all these victims. My heart goes out for them, but I don't think learning what movies they liked will do anything of utility.
It's more important to learn about why this happens and how to prevent it. In my opinion, stop giving these people (the killers) a voice and fame and it will cut down drastically on the occurrences.

I have an idea. Let's spend an undeserving amount of media coverage and sympathy towards one event that happened in one place and killed 12 people, and all pat ourselves on the back for caring, recognizing this was a bad thing, and act personally affronted. In other news 107 people died in Iraq today and 310 in syria 3 days ago. Wait he was a college student? I can't believe it!
I'm prepared to accept your neg reps now.

Couldn't agree more actually.
What's the point in giving this one person who decided to shoot up a theatre so much media emphasis, when we do have brothers and/or sisters in arms dieing every day. Yet, this guy makes it on the news before they do, what has this world really come to?

One of those three happened in America and most Americans don't give a shit about terrorism in other countries?
