Mavs < Memphis - Mavs are playing tough as hell, but Memphis wants it baaaad. Assuming they can knock off the Thunder, that is. Which they should.
Chicago > Atlanta- I hate Atlanta, and Chicago has been looking pretty good.
Boston > Miami - One armed Rondo.

I really like how the playoffs are turning out. Spurs and Lakers gone. I think the Memphis ride is about over though. I think OKC wins it in 7 and then the Mavs crumple.
Best team in the playoffs in the West is, I think, OKC. Best player in the West is Dirk at the moment. I just don't know. I don't see the Mavs having that killer instinct all the way through. I also don't they'll keep up with either opponent from the other side of that bracket, athletically. Mavs still strike me as a finesse team.
Western Conference - Joe Johnson is playing like he's worth the money at the moment. I respect that, and if he continues to give a shit, then I think they will beat the Bulls in 7. They got that first-game win which I think was a real psyche killer for the Bulls. The Hawks have the length to give the Heat trouble.
I'm stoked actually for the post-season. A nice turn of events.

24/5/1/1 deserves a max contract?

No, but it's at least better than where it was during the season.
Joe Johnson signed a Rashard Lewis-contract. I'm not saying he's worth it at all in the big picture, but he's at least indicating he gives a shit in the playoffs right now. I guess it's a "well, at least we're getting that...?" kind of a feeling.

As a mavs fan, normally id be the first to agree with you
(about the mavs not about the okc thing, who personally i think are overrated and become one-dimensional very quickly as seen in the memphis game). in all honestly im not betting any money on them until they prove they can win the whole thing. but i think they know that as a team by now. in 2006 they thought they had it in the bag, easy; 2007 that they deserved to win; 2008-2010 that they had to prove everyone wrong. i just see a completely different team out there this year than all of those previous years.
as much as i want to say "here we go again" every time they drop another big lead (like in the portland series), they just keep coming back. they might not be able to keep it up and take it all the way this year, but i, along with everyone else, have been proven wrong enough times this season that im not going to rule them out.
as of right now, they are playing the best of any team in the nba, with the most confidence and look like the most complete and deep team. thats why i think they have the best chance for the title. although the heat look very good as well
anyways that finals rematch would be incredible (incredibly exciting and nerve-racking for me as a mavs fan). talk about a journalists dream

I wouldn't bet against Dallas this time around if they played against the Heat in the Finals. If you look at the Heat's season, they have ALWAYS run into trouble when one or more of the big three haven't had solid nights. They have NO depth. Ilgauskas and Dampier are awful. Dallas on the other hand is the deepest team in the league. I don't think it's up for debate that their bench outclasses any other team's.

I think the Mavs are going to have a really tough Conference Finals, against either team. I would argue against the Mavs still being a finesse team though. They shut down the Laker offense consistently, never allowing 95 points in any game. They shut down Kobe too. Tyson Chandler brings a lot defensive strength inside and Dirk has played very tough, getting to the line often.
I would say the Mavs are still very much a jump shooting team, which is risky. If Caron Butler wasn't injured I wouldn't hesitate to predict a championship for Dallas. They looked so impressive against the Lakers but OKC and Memphis won't be that easy. I still think they have as much potential for success in the Finals as any other team.

The Lakers looked really old and really tired. I thought Phil Jackson just looked like he was going through the motions, same for most of that team. Kobe's the only one that struck me as having a will to win, but he's getting old. His body has a ton of miles on it, and he was playing pretty banged up.
I think the Mavs' toughest challenge would be Memphis. A lot of points in that interior and a lot of bodies they can run out there. Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Darrell Arthur, etc. I do think the OKC - Mavs match-up would be a pretty high scoring affair, a lot of 3s going to be put up in that series.
I do like the Mavs against the Eastern teams. I don't think Atlanta will be in the finals, but I think them and Miami are the two worst match-ups for the Mavs.

I just hope OKC lose. Stole my team. And yes, I'm still mad.
Following above logic, I have Mark Cuban winning it all, because he voted to keep the Sonics in Seattle.

Didn't expect Memphis to get rolled so hard last night, and Boston couldn't hold off Wade and Lebron at the end. Boston's run pretty much just ended, they will be in trouble next year.

That team was old the year they won it. They just have a ton of motivation. But yeah, I don't get the Kendrick Perkins trade.

There is a lot you can throw shit towards Dirk. He's 7 foot and wants to play facing the hoop. He fades away even without contact. He can't play near the rim.
The Miami-Dallas finals is one of the few moments when I will acknowledge the game was to be played 8 v 1. Dirk and the Mavs were stripped to 1 player (Dirk), and the Heat were given an abortion of a championship. I remember watching that series and going "wow, that's fucked up." Jason Terry and Eric Dampier basically spent the entire series in foul trouble. It was a joke. I don't like Dirk. I think he's a bitch, but the 2006 finals was an officiating joke.
He's playing like he wants it bad right now, and I respect that. I just wish he wasn't like every other European big man wanting to play the 3.

I was absolutely disgusted by the 2006 Finals' officiating. Never seen a more blatant instance of the red carpet being thrown out for a superstar (Dwayne Wade) to walk all over a team.

Thunder chocked on it last night!
Dallas heat rematch apparently, heat prolly win again. Bulls might pull it off but Drose is way too short to do it by himself.. Hate to see the big3 get it in their first year, but its what everyone kind of saw coming, i guess.
