1911 Beta

1911 is back!

You may already do this, but one thing I would recommend doing is always make sure you keep up with updates to your forum software. Popular software such as PhpBB are just as easy to find hacks for as DOD is. I guess that is the disadvantage to using popular open source products.

People hacking the TPG forums and non-stop spambot registration are the reasons Haiku took down the TPG forums. The spambots were even more annoying than the couple of times the forums got hacked. We were getting like 100 new registrations from bots daily. That was very annoying.

The phpbb we use is kind of our own custom version, but I do patch it with security fixes when they come out. This wasn't really because of that though, just a targeted attack on the dreamhost side (super nerds).

It's been fixed.
