getting an error trying to install the Week 7 map lennon2_b1

read file error every time i try to install the map have the files downloaded from the TPG site

anyone else getting this error besides me and some of my clan mates

It's most likely due to the fact steam broke DoD today. I wouldn't stress about it

Are you able to complete these steps?
1) download the files from the TPG website
2) EXTRACT THE FILES. it is a .rar not a .zip, use winrar.
3) copy and drag the files in the appropriate folder. (dod_lennon4.wad goes in the dod folder)

If so, then its just steam being dumb because today steam is being dumb.

yes i and others in HK have been getting the error and have done what you have suggested Defiance but still get error even on our match server i deleted everything and tried to get it from our match server and still got the same error

did as suggested and now works have to do everything individually instead of all at once

total sidenote, but reading moosh's last post, i can't help but think of the following: is this a new map that is not only lennon, but worse?! and is it so bad that the new players love it equally as much? furthermore, i don't want to live in this world anymore. a lot of hypotheticals, i know, but i feel like they're warranted

yes moosh that was me and i know others who are having the same problem

it is a conflict with an MDL file that is the issue

There is a missing sprite on the tpg site. I launched it through HLSW and got this.
So I googled "caparea.spr" and put it in the sprites folder through FTP.

Here is the link I used and the map works on the server now. Good luck!

hmmm i installed it when steve 1st released it on here and it worked fine for both me and my server

I downloaded it from red dogs server the other day and it worked fine for me.

"area_hud_sprite" "sprites/caparea.spr"

...actually, this should be:

"area_hud_sprite" "sprites/mapsprites/caparea.spr"

...in order to load the default "caparea.spr" contained in the "Day of Defeat.GCF" file

that is how the game works. I am assuming you extracted files to the wrong folder. It is not a map problem it is on your side of the extraction.

the map is the same as lennon, but retextured, and the spawns have been remade.

These are the worst predictions I've ever seen.

Steam must be having a meltdown. I have followed these steps and still get a File read error.

It can't be that difficult, can it?

there is a dod_lennon2_b1 folder in your .rar file.

- Open RAR FIle (with WinRAR e.g.)
- Doubleclick the dod_lennon2_b1 folder.
- Now you should see a ServerConfigs, a maps, an overview, a models folder and a wad file.
- Select all [ STRG+A ] and just use drag and drop the selected stuff to your main dod folder. [ SteamApps/YOURACC/day of defeat/dod ]
-finished. HF GL with playing lennon2_b1

p.s. if you are a real computer nerd, you might be able to exclude the Server Configs from your selection and put it into your dod main folder or upload to your gameserver.
