FPS drops a la 2013

Ok so the constant forum thread, fps problems..

First off, I'm not buying a new computer..
I'm getting weird drops that I recall having couple years back with another computer. If there are many people on the server(like 30 players) I get fps drops. Even though I'm looking straight into a wall and not actually seeing anyone. It's like the game still render players movement even thou they are 10 walls ahead of me. But if I turn 180 degress away from the action looking towards spawn, 120fps no problem.

I have these settings:
cl_particlefx 0
cl_dynamiclights 0
mp_decals 0
gl_fog 0
gl_vsync 0
gl_texturemode GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_NEAREST
gl_max_size 128
r_detailtextures 0

Playing in 640x480.

These are my specs:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3720QM CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8,00 GB
Intel 4000 HD Graphics

The reason why I dont think it's the weak graphic card is because I get the same amount of fps drops with or without high graphic settings. Is it the processors that keeps track on all these players on the server or the graphic card?

I'm fine on pcw's. It's just annyoing having these fps drops on public.

TURN OFF WALLHACK LOLOl

but srsly, i think it's because DoD is a ten year old game with unoptimised graphics and netcode. your graphics card is weak sure, but I'm not sure that's a factor. My system is pretty good and I wouldn't be able to get constant 120fps on 32 man servers on certain maps like saints etc, drops are pretty expected.

Back in the day I always limited my FPS to something like 70-80 because I hate getting FPS drops (they fuck with your aiming consistency). I know you said in TS yesterday that u need to have your FPS and refresh rate at the same value, are you using vsync or something? because for me with vsync off, fps_max 80 and RR 144Hz it's perfectly smooth. not sure I could tell much of a difference between 80, 90, 100 FPS (refresh rate always seemed more important for smoothness)

No I have always played with v-sync OFF cause of the delay to mouse and keyboard input.
I've googled pretty much about fps and hertz. And when there's more or less fps than frames on the monitor there will be a lag, it's very noticable on my computer atleast. Before when I used 100fps and 120hertz you could feel that there was a lack of frames. The feeling was that it lacked of 20 frames.
My real question is, is there somewhere you can turn off so that the game dont keep track of players I actually cant see. Cause that was the case in many CS tournaments. You werent allowed playing with cl_showfps or net_graph 3. Cause the fps drop would tell you that there was an enemy behind a corner/wall.

the game does this already I guess. it doesn't render a player you can't see unless they are close enough, or else wallhacks would be perfect! if you've ever tried watching demo with wallhack and ESP on, ESP can view further through walls than the wallhack can because the game isn't rendering the models until they come through some distance threshold towards you.

if you're asking can the game stop keeping track of player locations all together, then no because how would it know WHEN to start rendering the model then :D

ever since vista and later win7 I had problems in game. The base fps is higher. But I lag and get drops when nades go off or other random stuff. My laptop is bad sure. But it must be because the game is old also. Also bar seems to skip bullets on every fps_max I try.

Try cl_dynamiclights 0. It seem to fix my problem when I throw nades and shit.

Wait, you are gaming with an i7 system without a discrete graphics card??

He may be piecing his PC together a few parts at a time. In any case, the game is all CPU dependent, so it won't matter what he uses. I could throw my old Voodoo3 16MB PCI card in there if there was still a slot and I would get 100 fps with an i7.

Didn't notice the mobile part, but back in like 2003 I was getting 100fps with a shitty athlon cpu and a low budget GF2 MX200 32mb card. The OS overhead has increased but that is a pretty good mobile processor anyway.

I have 120fps constant with high quality settings up to 20players.. Between 20 and 30 its starts to hop between 120 and 80.

Sears, you know by now I'm on Mac. Mac mini to be precise. It's not the end of the world i get fps drops at servers with 30 players. Just asking if it was possible to do something about it.

I just wanted the excuse to post a gif. My condolences for your attempts at pro gaming on a mac mini.
