Lettuce be reality, this album is about 1/10 as good as their old stuff. If you disagree, you need to re-visit Discovery!

is it out? Had no clue. I know this track has been out for a little bit, but I finally just listened to the whole song and its a great way to wake up to a sunny 80 degree day off in San Diego, so I felt compelled to share.

I was just listening to discovery on my bike ride, it is great.

Look on the bright side, now the general populace knows what RAM really stands for!

Yes, new album released! Some of it is strong, like I think Get Lucky is good and Giorgio by Moroder is pretty great actually. But, overall, it just doesn't measure up for me.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts when you give it a full listen, though!

Hey I'm just being real. Not ripping on tenks or Daft Punk or anything, just stating that the album as a whole doesn't live up to their past stuff :\

It's still better than the majority of garbage being put out there, but Daft Punk has a higher standard than most.

I know exactly what you're saying. I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the album though, I know it leaked last week at some point but I never checked it out. Love me some DP... yeah, both kinds... wait wat?

Haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I heard a rumor that they'd be remixing the whole thing themselves.

I'm stoked either way. I really like Get Lucky, and will probably enjoy the whole album regardless. I haven't been expecting something the same as Discovery, mainly because they said it'd be very different in their interviews.

I haven't listened to any Daft Punk album in it's entirety more than once, except Discovery, since it was like 95% gold. I'll definitely give this a listen once I get my speakers plugged in.

I liked the tron soundtrack they did. Regardless of it being a soundtrack for a mainstream movie, its sound was very og daft punkish just on a grander, more cohesive scale.

this song is ok. I have yet to listen to the whole album.

Also agree that the tron ost was nice.
I thought about buying discovery in the past. But I got alive2007 (the album) instead. Imo that > all

Album's been available for streaming for a week now.
Unlike previous lp's they recorded this one almost exclusively with live instruments.
Except for contact, which after seeing synched with 2001: A Space Odyssey (flawlessly matches, it's uncanny) last weekend, is no detriment.
The fact that it was all live recorded combined with the LA/Vinyl years concept is what sets this one apart.
I don't know about you, but as a musician who's recorded an ass-ton of music, the quality of this production sounds fucking fastidious.
Every tinkle or tit as sweetly produced as the next.
Every reverb gate, every tapered compression, all the shiny eq and microphone fussiness.
Redeems the French and sets a very high standard for live recording.

The same thing happened with JUSTICE, cross was an amazing album and audio video, disco just didn't do it for me. But you can't judge the new albums off of the previous ones (Especially something as special as Discovery). I listened through all of RAM, it had it's moments like most records. Hopefully it will pump some life back into the edm scene.... everything just sounds the same all the time.

Except for the part where it's almost entirely not electronic, also there's a ballad in there, so there you have disregard of the dance bit in edm. However, much of it is clearly a tribute to dance records of the past decades, in the context of material choices, methods, guest musicians, and for that matter...marketing.

it would be naive to think that this album will not have any type of influence on edm.

this is definitely a tribute to all a lot of past dance music...disco, funk, etc.

I was thinking about this after Alex's post even before I listened to RAM..his 'review' alluded to something that I knew would eventually happen with DP. I dont know if you call it a trend (especially with DP, they arent trendy) or more so a natural occurrence in all musicians but all the greats in almost every genre of any type of music always progress and change. They always come out with an album..usually after 3 or so..thats completely different than what the fans have liked them for. And thats what this album is, if that makes sense. There are hints of the DP that I grew up with, but thats about it...just hints. There is always that one album that our favs put out and we're like meh, i think RAM is that one...

I like tracks 3, 8 and 12

Doing it right and get lucky, ironic...haha

There's probably something in this post alluding to regression to the mean.
