Season 31 Playoff Format

The first two rounds of the playoffs will be single elimination. The finals will be a best of 3.

Because of the July 4th holiday, there will be some give on when matches are to be played. Semifinals will be scheduled for July 7th, and if both teams want to play, that would be great, however, an extra week will be given to get it played. If both sides of the bracket do play on the 7th, then their finals will be on the 14th. For the finals, the first 2 matches must be played in one night, if a third match is necessary it is up to the finalists to decide if they want to play a 3rd in one night, or wait until the following Sunday.

June 30th Quarterfinals dod_lennon_b2
July 7th (14th) Semifinals dod_railroad2_b2
July 21st (14th) Finals dod_harrington, dod_anzio, (dod_lennon_b2 if necessary)

Main and Invite finals should not be played the same day(/time)

Im not sure how i feel about lennon being the deciding map, seems rather anti climatic if it were to go to 1:1

Chemille would be a great tiebreaker for the finals, imo. Probably the most evenly balanced map in the pool atm

Chemille would totally be better than two lennons. Other than that, great setup.

you should try and make 1 and maybe you'll get an idea of why no good maps exsist

hammer takes a few months of experience alone to get used to. then you have to learn how to properly make a map and what you can get away with. i've made 2 maps and both took months to complete. i've worked with others in making maps and i think that is really the way to go, however this community really lacks skilled hammer users and dedicated map makers. if steve worked on maps more we might have a new one for next season. i also have a updated lennon for next season but haven't shown it to anyone.

download hammer 3.4:
http://www.cstrike-planet.com/files/40- ... -Editor-34

download hammer 3.5:
http://www.cstrike-planet.com/files/75- ... -Editor-35

replace executable.

download zhlt:
http://zhlt.info/

http://scmapdb.com/tutorial:set-up-vhe-for-sven-co-op

follow that guide.

from there i'd probably search the interwebs for .rmf files to see what a finished map looks like. learning the keyboard bindings will make map making much easier and faster once you've figured out what the tools do.

the rest of the tutorials are too numerous to link. the unfortunate part is that many of the resources available to map makers are now lost because of the switch to hl2.

This, man! THIS!

And no donner/chemille is just hurtful. They're probably the two most even maps (although donner can become pretty axis-sided at higher skill levels)

I wouldn't mind having lennon as a tie breaker map as long as it hasn't been used before during playoffs. I'd stick with chemille over donner as well, since it could be really frustrating if a team manages to get a good axis half. Chemille would be a perfect fit.

Per TPG statistics lennon is the most balanced map in regular rotation:

"Balance" in terms of how many points get scored on each side of a map is a pointless statistic to look at when you're trying to choose maps for a *competition*.

If you want to know whether a map is a good competitive map, you need to look at how often the better team wins on lennon, robably by comparing win rates on the map with win rates on all other maps.

I think that they can choose if they win 1-1 ..
