Head in the Clouds

My brother is a filmmaker, and after collecting a summers worth of time-lapses he threw together this short video (2min):

Thanks, I'll pass on the kinds words. It's all shot in / around the mountains of our hometown in Wyoming.

Wow Greg, your brother really put together something special here. The shots are amazing and the music choice is perfect. He's got talent, tell him not to let it go to waste.
On a related side note. I have lots of family up in eastern Idaho (Idaho Falls/Pocatello area). I used to love going up there and heading over to NW and SE Wyoming on day trips, the vistas are just mind blowing. I love the Laramie valley, area is so beautiful. That and the Pallisades Resevoir/Big Elk Mountain area are a couple of my favorite places in the country. I've got great memories of driving the Swan Valley Highway as a kid. You guys are really lucky to have grown up in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. What city did you guys grow up in? My brother has to drive up to Casper and Rawlins from Denver quite frequently for work, and I'm pretty jealous of him. I would love to make that drive through that area as much as he does.
The only long(ish) distance drive I get to make for work (we work for the same company) is from Lubbock, TX to Hobbs, NM. Otherwise known as the most boring and god-awful drives (terrain wise) a human can make.

this vid makes my inner self all peaceful and serene lol. awesome vid. music reminds me of the soundtrack out of phantasy star online; all futuristic and bubbly/spacey-like. fun watch!

Yea it's so fucking cool. Seeing the milky way rotate like that gives you such a visceral perspective on our location within our galaxy.

Really badass. I've always wanted to do what he did with the star shots.
Also will you ask him how he got his camera to move at a consistent pace over time? Did he manually move it every few minutes or so? Or did he have some kind of tripod/device which automatically moved it a certain amount at a specified time?

You can buy a mount, bewton, that you can set to slide the camera at a certain speed. Really cool stuff, Greg. Give my compliments.

I live in Denver now, but I grew up in Laramie. It is beautiful up there, but a lot of people forget how shitty the weather is too. It's basically 10 months of snow / ice / wind and then 2 months of summer. If your brother drives from Denver to Rawlins he passes most of the places this was all shot.

What Jared said is right, he has motion control equipment. I don't know the specific equipment, but if you're interested I can ask him and figure out the brand / exact specs of what he has. I do know, that it wasn't too insanely expensive in the whole scheme of camera equipment.
For the fourth of July we always go up into the mountains to a little city called Centennial. Centennial is awesome because they have zero law enforcement, the only authority there is the Laramie Sheriff who drive's through like once a day. So on the 4th of July everyone in the little city (population around 100) lines the streets and blows shit up.
Anyways how this relates to this post is, my brother got his motion control equipment like a week before the 4th so he made this video of the madness:

It's more just for fun, and him figuring out how to use everything than it is professional, but it's still pretty cool.
