Wtf is it with showtime and HBO on ending their series... series finale of dexter was so retarded.. did the writers just say "fuck it, its the last episode what are they gonna do fire me?" well at least that's what i thought of it... Just left more to be desired. Like the sopranos.

I literally just finished watching it and thought much of the same. The ending seemed rushed and poorly thought out.

I dunno, I really liked the sixth season. 3, 5, and 8 were pretty bad. It's tough to keep a show like that consistently good. Overall I thought the writers did a terrific job with it. No show like that goes 8 seasons. I just wish they would have tied up the ending better.

Couldn't have said it better, season 2 is still my fav.

hated it. and one of the more annoying things for me, which hasn't even been mentioned yet, is the 6-7 episode build up of oliver "brain surgeon" saxon vs. dexter morgan... and then the way dexter finishes him off in that cell with a ball point pen? like.. a 1 or 2 minute scene in the season finale to sum up the inevitable conclusion of dexter vs. brain surgeon? gets stabbed in the arm and then stabs oliver's neck, and thats it? that really pissed me off. it took such a huge back seat to the annoying ass twilight love story that the second half of this season has become with hannah coming back, with a second love story between joey and batista's sister who spends 80% of the season yelling at quinn for thinking of deb.
and the last 5 minutes of the show was just horribly rushed and poorly done. felt rushed, abrupt, and like they couldn't think of anything better so threw in the towel and went with the most obvious ending.

Yeah couldn't agree more on that.. Just ruined the whole thing for me... All they did was leave it open for a return in another show or movies or something. Fucking lumberjack....

I recall reading something that said the writers wanted to end the show around season 6 or 7, but the deal with showtime forced them to stretch the story out into an 8th season.
I honestly didn't expect a great ending to the show. There were entire seasons that weren't worth watching, so I just assumed the ending would be a letdown... I just didn't expect... that...
I'm getting ready to watch the final Breaking Bad episode now, I really hope it has a good ending.

Walt rides off into the sunset and you see he's a lumberjack in New Hampshire.
Oh wait, that was the 2nd to last episode.
