For those of you who knew Tom "xero" Volpe, it's with a heavy heart I'm informing you he's passed. I met Tom back when I was just beginning to play this game, and I was a part of the lower [sAs] division. We recently started keeping in touch and playing catch up about a year ago, and he informed me of some health issues he had been battling. He loved to play this game, and was easily one of the nicest and most genuine human beings I've ever met. Only the good die young.
rip.

I had the chance to play on TMNT with Tom 2 seasons ago and he was an extremely nice person. He told me about some of his health issues at the time and since I hadn't heard from him in a while I feared he may have taken a turn for the worse. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family/friends.

RIP tommy boy. he was Ryan and my first dod friend back in the days of good old [sAs]. he was there for the first time me and ryan ever cheated in a pub and was right there along with us when the Pimp Division caught us all and kicked us out. I wish I had talked to you more recently, I didn't even know you were sick but man you were one of the absolute fucking coolest dudes we ever had the privilege to play with in this game and are quite literally the oldest friend we had in dod. I'm sure you're fraggin in the afterlife and keepin everybody honest. really a very sad loss for all who crossed paths with Tom, such a good guy all around. never talked any shit about anyone, never called bullshit when people dumped on him, as loyal a person as could even when it meant throwing his own ass under the bus to be right there along with his friends. always wanted to try and get better even if it meant all of us open guys playing 5 hours of scrims vs top invite teams and getting our assholes resized over and over again until we learned.
RIP [sAs] xer0 |DD| / [HW]x0.

Never met him, but always sad to lose one of our community members. I'll add him to the list for the memorial fund, and in due time it would be great if one of you guys who knew him well could write up a little paragraph or two about him for it.

We were lucky enough to play the last 3 or 4 seasons alongside Tom, in fact pretty much from the day he came back to DoD and was looking to get back into playing competitively and I can honestly say it was an honour. He had our back like no other and was someone that could instantly cheer you up in vent with his impressions and jokes. Not to mention how good of a player he was when he was on fire.
I can't really put into words how upset I am over losing Tom, he was a true inspiration. Showed me how precious life is in just over a year of knowing him.
Rest in peace my friend, I'll miss you.

Really nice guy who got a pretty unfair deal with having to fight with those health problems for so long.

way too young.
Tom was so awesome to play with. he didn't bitch, accuse, or make excuses. he just adapted. He would do anything to help someone else, even if he didn't know you.

Ryan, this is you. He always talked about how much respect he had for you. He would have wanted you to do it.

Didn't know him personally, wasn't even friends on steam with him but recall playing some 12mans with him and for some strange reason could instantly recall his avatar when I read "Xero":
Seemed like a very nice person and it's a shame because that's something this world needs more of.
RIP.

Sad news. We should better enjoy the glimpse of time that has been to us. Didn't ever talked to him but considering the comments I think it's safe to say that he will be greatly missed. Perhaps with this memorial idea of 1911 we could possibly provide a memento, even if it's an email, from his friends to his family. I am sure expressing that he was liked can help comfort his relatives in such moment. RIP.

Tom and I go back, between trying to pass the time together doing random shit to playing side by side for 4 seasons. I remember when I first heard he was going through a rough time from some rumors and when I asked him personally he broke down and told me that he didn't want to tell me because I would worry. After he told me and we sat there for 30 minutes in silence I remember him cracking the joke and I quote, "If I do die from this or anything else I would have had to used up all my re-spawns in DoD." We played together and didn't think about of course he clued me in on how things were going but I always felt like it was just never enough. I was saving up for the passed year to go and see him so we could hang out and finally meet, but I guess that day will have to wait just a little longer. Tom please remember that you were amazing and I loved our time together as most who knew you would. Tom you will always be apart of the DoD community and now you can live in peace. R.I.P sir Tom I will see you soon.
Your Friend and Teammate,
Randy "fuzion" Gansz
