ESL offers DoD Division

Some of you may be aware of the project that has been undertaken to get DoD a division within the Electronic Sports League (ESL). After talks with top ESL admins, they have agreed to open a DoD division within their league. As Trevor “midway” Schmidt has stated, “I was the founder of GotFrag and worked to provide DoD a place at GotFrag many years ago. I see no reason why we can't do the same thing again here at National ESL.” For those unfamiliar with the league, the North American division can be seen here: http://www.nationalesl.com/us/

For many people this may be confusing or seemingly out of nowhere, so let’s discuss the implications of this offer. Why ESL? What is there to gain here? For starters, ESL has one of the most advanced anti-cheat clients of all the leagues which will promote the legitimacy of all play. In addition, participating in ESL is to be part of a professional organization that can draw attention to our game once again. Our participation can increase traffic to the ESL site, which in turn can sponsor money for ESL, which will only serve to possibly benefit our game with various prizes.

Now let’s throw this back into perspective. No one here is suggesting the triumphant revival of DoD. No one is going to be tagging up [DoD4CPL] again. What we are suggesting is being part of a well-run, multi-game, sponsor-backed league that offers a functioning site, an advanced anti-cheat client, and more attention to our game.

That is what’s important. Surely there will be responses talking about how this can’t work, or how we can’t play 3 leagues at once, or maybe how ESL made a mistake by picking us up. All I can say is don’t waste time dwelling in these details; they will be worked out accordingly based on the demands and wants of this community. All I am doing is presenting you this rather amazing option that has been graciously thrown our way.

As it stands, Narc will be head admin for the ESL-DoD division with Toxinator second in command. Hellfire and I will be managerial admins for rulings and decisions that are made regarding the structure and course of ESL-DoD. We will also be handling DoD coverage/media such as predictions, stats, and interviews throughout the season, and this is something where others will be more than welcome to help. So far no one has been hired to be part of the anti-cheat team.

This is where the process currently rests. The offer has been made and admins have been chosen. The next step, which is being worked out as we speak, is laying out the rules, dates and structure of the league. No details can be given at this time regarding this step as all details have not been laid out. Once everything is laid out, our division can be operational within days.

The ball is in our court. We have been given an amazing opportunity, and I highly suggest we take it into serious consideration when determining where to focus our resources.

really hope you guys(and by you I mean Narc and RWC) are considering closing either TPG or DCN. Its hard enough to get teams to field 6 on one match night, let alone 3.

Someone better tell the pub clans about this, cause they didnt sign up for DCN at all.

Also, hellfire as an admin lol.

There will only be two leagues going on in DoD, and that's as much as I'll say. We'll have them separated by more than 24 hours, too. One will probably be played Sunday, and another probably on Wednesday. We'll try and reach out to all teams possible.

Narc and tox are the head and assistant head admins, respectively. Hellfire and I don't have the authority they have, and in all honesty, won't have that much power as it stands. That being said, Chad is the reason ESL gave us a shot. He's the one that talked to Midway. He deserves to be on board and on the inside of the league's formation. But again, he and I will not be in positions to call shots or ban people or anything along those lines. We are here to help Narc and tox in the decisions they make, but they have the ultimate say.

If you could make/attain hacks that can circumvent their client, which is updated 1-2x per month minimum, I bet they'd give you a prize.

Nothing. We're working on the proposal regarding rules, schedule, etc. and sending it to top ESL admins. They check it over, and upon approval, open the DoD division for registration. We'll make an announcement once that happens.

This will be a free league.

DCN is dead in the water(I assume). What happens to TPG? If TPG stays, ESL would be played Wednesday nights(answered in original post, confirmation)? Plans on "marketing" ESL to teams that do not regularly check 1911 or the TPG/DCN website? Will ESL be opened for registration and have a start date that coincides with TPG(if TPG isn't folded up). Monetary prizes for our league? Divisions? Requirements/How teams will be put in Divisions? SAs, where they will fit in and rules as to how? Roster caps?

I FULLY SUPPORT THIS, I'm sure risK will sign up.

Just asking questions. In before you ride my nuts about how I don't want it to work.

An admin, or kirk, or hellfire responding to these would be ideal.

Realize not all details have been sorted out/approved by Midway and his crew yet, so while our acceptance into ESL is finalized, the specifics are not.

1) The fate of DCN rests with Narc, and it will be sorted out appropriately. The aim is to have 2 leagues, 1 of which will be ESL. DCN and TPG will be worked out accordingly. No official decisions have been made yet, as the specifics of ESL should be sorted out first.

2) We don't have official plans to seek the smaller clans just yet, but I suggest we put together a statement and explanation and emailing teams registered with TPG regarding the significance of ESL in hopes they join. In my opinion, ESL ought to be priority #1 and resources should be directed towards getting as many teams as possible there.

3) Dates, rosters, etc. have not been fully figured out. We will have more on that within a week, or probably shortly after this weekend, and you'll have more specifics then. Until everything is approved, we can't give anything more.
