recording draft demos

what do you think the consequence should be for a player who doesn't record/submit demos during the draft?
apparently they're letting players get by without recording a demo because there was an hltv in the server.. if that's the case, should we ever even bother recording demos?
i'm asking this because in my draft match last night jigsaw didn't have a 2nd half demo to submit and he hasn't been held accountable like others have in the past.

The consequences should probably be "Everything is made from dreams," or something equally as retarded, tattooed across their chest

banned for X weeks from league play, where X is equal to 4 to 8 weeks.

Same as SS, should be an FF win for that team.
I think hydro or RDK was suspended for a week and the match was over turned due to no demo and invalid SS. Same thing should apply right? Just because there is an HLTV doesn't mean you don't have to or shouldn't record.

It depends on the player. With jigsaws history id say he deserves what he gets. However I know sometime demos do currupt bc my allies demo from our very first match wouldnt work for me. Luckily I found the hltv and it wasnt a big deal. All my other demos work just fine though.

I went in vent and explained my situation to the tpg admin and he said it wouldn't be a problem.

if you don't have a demo or a screenshot. you should be banned for 6 months....you do it for every match and most of us have played for more than 5 years. no excuses!

leaving before 2nd half is over is completely different from not recording a pov demo lol

drop him from this draft and the next one if you don't end up with 2 demos and get disputed. that doesn't seem like too terrible of a punishment. i don't think it should bleed into other leagues unless it looks like you're cheating on an HLTV demo.

Idk if anybody just watched that video. WTF. Even I can see him cheating and I disputed 15 people last season.
Take a vote, Nick. Do you mind putting up a vote?

If you disputed 15 people last season, I would think that it would make you more likely to think he's cheating.

Nah, I kinda can start to see if people cheat. But rwc's not looking at what I say anyway.

I don't think it should be a vote. I think the guy should just not be allowed in the draft league, at least for this one and the next one if it happens. The league's about having fun, and competing... not cheating to win. I don't see how it's difficult to record demos. I don't care if he gets banned from other leagues, but everyone should probably just dispute him every match so he can't have fun cheating in other leagues and has to live with how awful he actually is at the game.
FYI, I've never had a demo corrupt in a decade of playing HL games in leagues when I played an entire half. I've heard of it happening, but only from players who were disputed and didn't want to submit demos... or people who blue-screened/crashed while the demo was recording. Just stop cheating in leagues where people play for fun. No one thinks you're good, okay?
P.S. In case you didn't catch this, demos don't corrupt for no reason. For a demo to be corrupt, the file or manifest has to be written incorrectly because the HL.exe process stops prematurely due to a crash or system reset. HL.exe doesn't just randomly write demos incorrectly. If a demo is corrupt and the player played the entire half, they corrupted it.

I've had it happen once or twice when I've had really bad connection issues (didn't crash though). Also had it happen at Socal 6 vs. Thunder on Anzio.
I think he would get disputed every match, but you can only dispute two people out of a team where almost everyone is a good candidate for a dispute.

Connection issues shouldn't cause demo corruption. What did you do and what happened when you tried to watch them?
The corruption at a LAN center can occur because of write permissions on the local hard disk, but that's a different issue. It's more likely an upload/download or network access issue than the actual demo being corrupt.

The one from SOCAL crashes my game after 15 seconds or so. Just played the match and dumped the demos on my flash drive.
I had one on railroad2 that crashed my game in about 4 different spots, but you could skip over all but 1 of them. I had cl_flushentitypacket a ton during this match.
Those are the only ones I specifically remember. It's been too long to keep track of that stuff.

does it crash when you use playdemo?
viewdemo was written by the guy who developed HLTV. it has never worked as robustly as playdemo.

I'm about 90% sure I tried playdemo. If I still have the demo, I might try it out..

this all really my bad for not taking somethign like this into consideration...which is also my bad because the only reason i didn't was because i didnt think it would end up being this well of a turn out.
with that being said, with the next Draft we will definitely just do basic TPG rules, as well as a few twists that possibly we see fit to add in. that is, if im even a part of the adminning process next time considering i did volunteer myself to be the AC and that was apparently just taken over by someone else

Yeah, playdemo usually always works, it's a bitch to use it, but at least it works. From what I've seen, the couple corrupt demo's that I've had, happened when I lagged out, sometimes I'd time out, sometimes it would recover fast enough to keep playing, but that's usually what does it. Tbh though, jigsaw was probably cheating.

Yeah, the only time I've had it happen was when a router restarted itself and the game crashed out with a NET_SENDPACKET_ERROR messagebox popping up.
Lagging out should not corrupt your demo unless it's breaking the game function. If all that's happening is lag, the game should be recording a demo that shows people being in their lagged out positions relative to you just like your screen. I've had this happen several times before and never seen a corrupt demo. If you have a complete disconnect from the internet, that would cause the game functionality to break down and might cause a corruption. Otherwise the demo writing function should just be recording the wrong position of objects.

Im not sure what you call currupt but ive had demo not load right. It would come up and the guys would be moving and it would just freeze. I dunno maybe I didnt record it right but thats about as currupt a demo that ive dealt with. I also got the hltv just incase there were any issues.

I've had only 2 demos corrupt on me and both were on LAN vs. coL at WSVG. (Yes 1st and 2nd half both corrupted on me, both with viewdemo and playdemo and the hltv demo command which i can't remembet)
I only remember this because I had a 5 or 6 kill streak, most of them being no scopes, in a short time on donner.
The video is very suspicious, but you can't tell anything by a video. If multiple ACs cleared him then it's a different story.
