Hey guys, I need a little help...
Recently i've bought a new notebook, a dell vostro 3550 (i7 2.7ghz, 6gb ram, Radeon HD6600M 1gb dx11 AND an onboard VGA for maximize battery's life).
Even though it's a good notebook (newer games such as CSS and DODS are running ok), i'm having some problems on running dod 1.3, cause every time that i shoot (doesn't matter the gun), the fps slows down to 20 and comes back to 100...when i'm in the middle of a shooting, the game becomes simply unplayable...
The notebook have an option that allows me to choose the VGA that will run the aplicatives, and i can set energy econnomy or high performance, i've already tried everything on both VGA's, and changing the game configs, configured it as many ways as possible, and the problem doesn't fix. So, my last last hope are you...

He was supposed to play for dW but his brand new laptop keeps gaying him around.... Nasty ATI video card configuration I presume.

I have a slightly slower computer, and similar problems, but my fps isn't quite as bad...

One thing that has helped me before is setting the theme to Windows basic. Also, make sure you have the proper video card drivers and that they are updated. Also, try running at a lower resolution. I was running in my laptops widescreen res and had fps drops to 20 or so, but changing it to 1024x768 kept my drops around 40-50 or so.

I remember back in the day, setting the CPU affinity so that it only uses 1 core used to help some people with FPS issues... It might be worth a try.

Can you run CS 1.6 well?

I'll try to change windows theme...but there's a problem about the video card driver, cause it seems that only one driver (made by Dell) runs both VGA's...it means that the drivers on ATI and Intel webpage's does not work right (I tried to install both, but them tell me that there's no hardware on my comp.), the correct driver might be the one modified by Dell, and probably will never have an update (I doubt on it).
I downloaded CS 1.6, and it worked well, 100 fps with no slow down, what is very strange. I set the same resolution of DOD 1.3 on CS 1.6, and the screen doesn't fill all the monitor area (different from dod until this moment), and the fps kept constant, then i started dod 1.3, and the screen became the same as CS 1.6, but the slow down on fps continues.
CPU affinity changes does not made any difference for me :/
Do you play on 1024 resolution without half of the monitor area?

I have it set to scale, but to keep the same aspect ratio.. That way, I only have bars on the left and right side of my screen.

Edit: I have a Dell too, and I was still able to get video card drivers installed. Are you sure you're selecting the right chipset?

I'll try to download it again from amd website, but i'm sure that i'm selecting my VGA model...Radeon HD6600M

The driver from amd website says that there's no hardware support in this computes, and the mobility center that cames installed says that everything is updated

Still not playing like my old gforce, but the slow down is so much better now. 100 fps almost everytime and when slows down goes to 75~85. Detail: Settings on Catalyst driver are set to default, and playing with widescreen resolution.
I don't know if it's your problem too, but maybe you can try these settings.
