......And it seems their solution will be a saggy, twitchy-faced illiterate with one FA Cup to his name in 25 year managerial career. A true recipe for success.

Capello resigns from England. Surely this paves the way for 'Arry Redknapp?

Stomping on Spurs defenders... managers... and fans... is acceptable and should be tolerated to the point where it is almost encouraged.

oh and I forgot to gloat... it's been years since we've had a decent side.

The PK is controversial, but I'll never say he shouldn't have been awarded it. The defender still took a chunk out of him and it's too hard for me to tell if he touched the ball first or not. Regardless, you shouldn't slide tackle from behind in the box. Your opponent is GOING TO GO TO THE GROUND AND TRY TO DRAW THE fREE KICK.

Fuck your 9 match ban, FA.

Spurs should have beat City 2 weekends ago. The no call for Balotelli stomping on the Spurs defender was unacceptable.

Re: Mega-super-cool Soccer thread

The goal is pretty good, but you can see how the wind just carries it, and it just creates problems. That being said it sucks.

Bigger lol was Man U losing 3-0 to Newcastle.

I haven't checked the "replacement" site in a while. But the last time I looked at it, they probably had a tenth of the matches that used to be broadcasted.

Re: Mega-super-cool Soccer thread

It's not that they don't want to. A lot of Welsh and a lot of Scottish have played for the English team. It's really just in the last 5 to 10 years where the expectations have risen to stay home.

Welsh soccer is awful and Wales absolutely does not care about it. So, why would you play for that? Wales cares about Rugby, that's it. Their sole purpose in life is rugby.

Re: Mega-super-cool Soccer thread

by dane » Wed Dec 14, 2011 8:46 am

because the welsh want nothing to do with the england, same with the scottish, and both pride themselves on having their own team and NOT being team UK/GB.. (see the huge debate over the upcoming London 2012 team Great Britain )

Re: Mega-super-cool Soccer thread

by lolinus » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:52 am

Couldn't England go together with Wales, Scottland and North Ireland go together and form one team under the UK? I think they'd be dominating pretty bad if they did.

And i don't see why they havent done that yet, since England Wales Scottland and North Ireland actually is UK/GB.

Re: Mega-super-cool Soccer thread

by mg_ » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:49 am

Yeah, I think The Russian realizes the problems are not with coaching but with the players at this point. Hopefully Torres goes back to Spain for some team like Valencia where it won't be quite as demanding and he can find his groove again.

Chelsea is old. They show it. Lampard being left off the roster this past week speaks volumes.

The English have talent, it's just purely mismanaged. To that I do add they don't have near the dedication to the 1 sport as Germany, Spain, or the Netherlands. There is a ton of emphasis here on Rugby, Cricket, etc. So you're going to have good athletes going multiple routes. Couple that with the fact many players will be playing for Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, and it further reduces the talent pool.

However, 4000+ hours makes a huge difference.

20 mill for Torres? Seems believable even though the article is from dailyfail...

"Under current regulations, young players can only receive 3,760 hours of contact time up until the age of 21. By contrast youngsters at La Masia (Barca's Academy) receive at least 8,000 hours by the time they reach 18."

Dosen't England have that system were they can pick up players from their former colonies? I know France had that, so they just picked up all good players in their former colonies.
I think there was a law passed in the 1990s that limited who you play for in the UK from the Commonwealth down to simple naturalization of 5 years. So, me living here in Scotland, if I did so for the next 5 years and applied for citizenship, then I could become eligible for the English team.

However, only Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England are freely allowed to pick amongst which team in the UK they want to play for, and they can only do so once. Hence, when Ryan Giggs picked to play for Wales he did so because his grandmother or grandfather had been an Welsh national.

England has only beaten Sweden once in the past 44 years (2 weeks ago in a friendly was the only time.....) and yea, the J. I'm actually surprised England havent beated us more, England is supposed to be good on football(in my opinion England is = football).
