Yet, the photons physically emitted from their stars from a time of the Universe's infancy, have finally made their way to our neck of the woods.

pretty sure that given the size of the universe being the only life is statistically impossible.
I wouldn't even rule out more life in this solar system .. yet. Maybe certain moons, mars ...
Caltech recently published estimates that put the number of planets in the Milky Way alone, to be in the range of 100-400 billion. I read somewhere recently that said they now think most planets are rocky and earth-like as well and not gas giants. Combine that with the number of icy moons of Saturn and Jupiter (Europa, Enceladus, Gannymeade, etc.) who have liquid water oceans underneath miles of ice, so there is most certainly a propensity for our own solar system to harbor life. People who think life only exists on Earth are idiots.
