In all honesty its a simple low bells and whistles design. That is why G-shocks are at the cheaper end of the spectrum for wrist top functionality. Compared to Suunto it has no internal menu layout, which means that all of the functions are face driven by holding a button for a few seconds. You're making it way harder than it needs to be. It isn't a GPS nor an ABC. Its a typical watch and use it as such, without trying to answer the questions of the cosmos.
